I think the "associations" rhetoric is a good example of what seperates so many of us politically. Many on the far right take the position that if you disagree with anything another person has done or has said, then you can't work with that person in any capacity or on any issue.
It's why so many of them don't excel in consensus-building and their potential for achievement is so very limited. Funny that they hold Reagan is such high esteem, because he was very good at working with those he disagreed with.
It's the difference between posturing political theatre and governance.

You jumped to a conclusion that my post didn't make. I never characterized the "alliances" in any way - as casual or as close working relationships. The "associations" were obviously overblown by some in an unsucessful attempt to score some cheap points - no denying that.

But distiction as to the nature of the relationship is inconsequential to the point I made.

If you can only work with people who look the same way you look, act the same way you act, believe the exact same way you believe, talk the exact same way you talk, etc ... then your potential for meaningful achievement is virtually nil.
