The original Justified show had a great character, great moments....but really horrible story lines.............the problem due to the fact that Raylan Givens, the main character, was a Federal Marshal, not a cop. The problem with that fact is he had no reason to be interacting with the local criminal elements in the Kentucky county he was stationed in.....
A Federal Marshal is involved with everything to do with the Federal Court system.....court house protection, witness protection, judge protection, asset seizures, tracking down fugitives....but no real investigative work that has anything to do with robbers, drug dealers or your typical criminal murderer......
The new show suffers from the same thing....they try to make up for it by making the first death a judge......which would be in Raylan's area.......but they try to recreate the Boyd Crowder character with the main villian and it just doesn't work.
There is no reason for the bad guy to focus on Raylan Given..........and in reality, the death of a judge would likely be handed off to the FBI who actually investigate crimes....
The daughter character is weak.....and is shoe horned into the plot to give the villain someone to threaten......
Just a weak show........watch it if you are bored and your menu surfing from all of your other pay channels doesn't come up with anything else...
