She never stated her case to the Mormon Church about his abusiveness. He had money and offered her a favorable settlement if she didn't take it to the Church. So according to the Church she had no legitimate reason to divorce or break the covenant. So she was excommunicated for abandoning her husband and breaking the marriage covenant. In return he made sure she never had to worry about anything financially ever again.

I've never heard of, in my entire life, someone being excommunicated for getting divorced even on a whim, and believe me I've seen a lot of whim divorces.
I assume a covenant marriage is a Temple Marriage
A divorce by the courts also dissolves the covenant marriage
Courts as a rule don't care if it's a covenant marriage

Sometimes a Temple attendance maybe denied during a divorce proceeding but is usually granted later on

After concreting the relationship they would tell it was gross...He should have went to his wife and said "I have lust in my life" She would have gotten rid of it for him lol. From what I read his profile is basically a guy looking to learn what sex is all about. When are people going to learn that sheltering your children from such things only makes then run to it the moment they can? Want to make your kid a sexual deviant as an adult? Easy....just raise him in an environment where holding hands is only permitted after he is engaged.

Well, well, well, all I can say is that those of us that claimed this dude wasn't to be trusted, were right. I hope that there aren't any new child victims, but he has really shown to be a sham and not such a good Christian as all you conservatives painted him to be.

IF they did everything they claim they did, I personally don't see what more they could have done. They tried to get their kid help in multiple ways, they went to the police (which the VAST majority of parents wouldn't have done), they took measures to protect their kids after the fact, etc. IF all of that is true, what else should they have done? What would you have done in addition to what they did if it was your son?
Believe me, I have neither love nor sympathy for the Duggars. Frankly, I think they are a bunch of kooks. But I am not sure what else there was to do that they did not do...or at least claim they did.
The reality is that if this was not a family who portrayed themselves as so holy and righteous, this story wouldn't even be front page news

That went right over your head didn't it? About two miles above. Ok let me slow this down so the liberal mind can understand.
When you raise your children in an environment that is ultra-repressive and forbid them to do things, the child will have a natural tendency to want to do those things. These children are raised in an atmosphere that does not allow an outlet for the natural and healthy exploration of human sexuality. Since there is no healthy outlet and hormones rage in teenage boys, they will find an unhealthy means of exploration. My guess is that these children are taught that healthy outlets such as masturbation is sinful and will send them to hell. Furthermore, they cannot experiment with member of the opposite sex in ways that are natural for children growing up and learning about their sexuality. So with no healthy or natural outlet available, what do you think is going to happen? The urges are going to force some form of action and when there are no natural or healthy outlets available, the only thing left is unhealthy and unnatural outlets.
The family is getting what they deserve, but it is because they created an environment that was begging to be exploited in an unhealthy way and compounded the error by portraying themselves as icons of moral purity. I say again....if this had been a family that was not so religious and conservative, and did not portray themselves in the manner they did to the public, this story wouldn't even make the news for a single day.
