poor John cougar. I love the authority song.i used to plat that hundreds of times over and over again great music video as well,I was thrilled to death that my second favorite song of his hurt so good made it into footloose my favorite movie of all time.

According to this write up here, he did return to the stage a few minutes after leaving. A heckler in the crowd is the reason why he left. Hopefully the person was found and removed because it can't be the singer who leaves when they have everyone else there to perform for.

Something happened to Mellencamp around the 1990s.
He use to love to ride motorcycles with friends around here. (Bloomington, IN)
Seeing him out was not uncommon, and people generally left him alone.
He was a definite partier.
Then all of a sudden he became a recluse. He still lives here, but no one ever sees him. Ever.
He lives on his compound on Lake Monroe, behind 12 ft gates. He once was friendly and visited bars/restaurants frequently. I doubt he has been to any establishments here for over 20 years.
