At least half of Jefferson, Orleans parishes still without power after Isaac

More than 230,000 residents in Jefferson and Orleans parishes are still without power for the third day after Hurricane Isaac's winds and rains pummeled the Gulf Coast.

By mid-morning Saturday, Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana had restored electricity to about a quarter of the homes without power in Orleans Parish, but almost 112,230 homes and businesses were still without service, or about 60 percent of the parish, according to the Entergy Storm Center website, which provides updates on power outages in New Orleans and across the region.

Isaac's high winds and heavy rains also caused widespread power outages elsewhere across the region.

Jefferson Parish, which is served by Entergy Louisiana, had about 112,460 customers without power this morning, or about 54 percent of the parish, down from about 143,300 at early afternoon Friday.

In St. Bernard Parish, about 8,830 electricity customers were still in the dark; in Plaquemines, about 11,762; in Lafourche, about 19,530.
In St. John the Baptist, where flood waters forced thousands of residents to evacuate Thursday, about 17,530 homes and businesses were experiencing outages; in St. Charles, the number was around 13,060.

Didn't Mitt talk about Obama keeping the seas from rising, at the RNC convention?

the only thing wrong with that is that Jindal is a Republican. If Jindal was a Democrat asshole cynthia wouldn't start this thread.

I think a more valid question is why didn't Jindal breach the levees earlier and keep the area from flooding to begin with.
