James Madison, a framer of our constitution, warned of the dangers of extreme...

Madison was a bit of a weasel. First seeming to side with Hamilton but then breaking away from Hamilton's Federalists and joining Jefferson's original Republicans.

Jefferson used the word wolves to describe the governments of Europe. "they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. I do not exaggerate. "....."experience declares that man is the only animal which devours his own kind, for I can apply no milder term to the governments of Europe, and to the general prey of the rich on the poor" Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington Paris Jan.16.1787

Your quote doesn't back up your claim against the father of the Constitution. I guess if you can't misquote him, might as well dismiss him.

...wealth inequality.

"The day will come when our Republic will be an impossibility because wealth will be concentrated in the hands of a few. When that day comes, we must rely upon the wisdom of the best elements in the country to readjust the laws of the nation."

- James Madison

FACT: the top 1% of earners own 40% of the nation's wealth. The bottom 80% of earners own 7% of the nation's wealth.

A few things can be taken away from the above information.

The founding fathers wouldn't even have lunch with someone from the rightwing teabaggers or republicans in general for that matter. They obviously believed in government intervention where today's republicans are very much against. Truth be told the framers were the equivalent of modern day liberals.

Republicanism is one giant political lie.

You know that Madison never said that right? It was made up by liberals who thought it might be a good idea if he said it.

James Madison on wealth - snopes.com

Everything about the supposed quote by Madison on concentrated wealth, and a living constitution to redistribute that wealth, seemed contrary to everything our founders believed in so I asked an expert about the authenticity of the quote.

Dear Mr. Layser,
You are not the only one trying to track down the quote. We've had several
queries about it and I'm copying what I sent the others.

I've done a thorough search and could not find this quote in Madison's
papers.

The funny thing Billy and all the other drones here will swear up and down Madison really did say that. Or something sort of similar to it that means the same thing. They will repeat it in thread after thread, like your post never happened.

Not just thread after thread. They'll be repeating it all over the internet for the next 50 years. I think reeducation camps are the only thing that will make them stop.

Interesting. I guess we were all lied to about what the founding fathers TRULY believed..I always thought they were small government republican types...its a breath of fresh air to realize they weren't at all like the tea party and republican AND democrats for that matter paint them to be.

Why is no one surprised that you choose to believe a proven lie that supports your biases and prejudices?

How beautifully liberal!

Such envy. So what is your answer there, big shot? Take their money and give it to the poor, ala Robin Hood? Do you REALLY believe that would EVER happen?

Grow up. There have AlWAYS been rich and there have ALWAYS been poor. The difference in the US is that you have a shot at a better life. It's up to you - that is until the left finally destroys the middle class.

Quit bellyaching and get a job. Oh, that's right - there AREN'T any jobs out there.....

The workers are waking up and fortunately we have 1 political party on our side...it may be for their own political life but they are pushing our agenda.

All you're doing is incriminating the DemoRATs as a bunch of communists.

Yeah, you're right. I was a Teamster for 25 years and by the time I retired, the "party" that you speak of was the republicans. 99% of the Teamsters understand how the "game is played" and they accept it. Why? Because they make a fine living. Are they rich? Of course not! But they do quite well, thank you.

"workers waking up"?? To what!?!?! That they are making a living for their families? That the Union bosses are millionaires? Give me a break - one hand washes another.

Folks will never comprehend that those at the top get the "lion's share" of life. Get used to it. That's the way the world has worked for the last 2,000 years and I don't expect it to change for the next 2,000 years.

Who is stealing your labor, and how are they doing it?

You know, you're really scary.
I hope so.

Nope. Getting our fair share is not theft or communistic its FAIR! Get used to it. Or get run over. We know you hate the poor and want to keep us that way but there are more of us then there is of you.

Are we a UNITED country?
How does a country operate and how do make it exist?

Yes because Freedom is so well defined by the seizing illegally of peoples assets because you think they have to much.

Who gets to decide what is too much? Who gets to decide what to do with the stolen goods and cash?

Of course in order to seize these goods and cash one must first strip those we deem to wealthy of their rights all across the board. That would take an amendment to the Constitution. Several actually. And would stifle growth and prosperity for all.

Further even if you take the seized goods and cash and distribute it to the poor it will only help them until they spend it or use it as they still do not have the means to produce more themselves. So then you would need to lower the bar on who is to wealthy and strip them as well. Until everyone is poor and has no means to make more.

Great plan.

James Madison, a framer of our constitution, warned of the dangers of extreme...
...wealth inequality.

But Madison was far more concerned about the greater dangers of an exploding, all-pervasive government. And rightly so.

That was why, when he wrote the Constitution, he made it a document that forbade the government-uber-alles philosophy of today's liberals. He created a strictly limited central government instead, designed to be merely a caretaker of things that "the States and the People" couldn't handle at all. And there weren't many of such things. UNless there was a time of actual war, the Federal government was supposed to have very little influence on most people's lives.

And Madison deliberately did NOT put any passages into the Constitution, that might control the amount of wealth a person could earn. And by omitting them, he forbade the government from trying to control people's wealth. Liberals and other socialists have been trying desperately to violate or ignore this ban, ever since.

Madison knew that the dangers of Big Government were far greater than the dangers of people having wealth. And the rest of the Framers strongly agreed with him.

It's both. How did you determine that your "fair share" is more than you agreed to?

Or get run over. We know you hate the poor and want to keep us that way but there are more of us then there is of you.

thanks for proving to the entire forum that leftists are nothing more than cheap thugs.

The government the framers altered was powerless, so small it almost didn't exist the framers took that amost nonexistant government and made it into a powerful government, able to tax, to control, make war and on and on.
The framers were of different political pursuasions but they created a government based on the liberal period of their time, the Age of Enlightenment. Since that period, America has become even more liberal, too fast for some and not fast enough for others.

Liberal of the time has no correlation to what's liberal today. Today's liberal is a strong central government type with little if any state power. It's a disservice to call the founders liberal since we apply modern definitions to words.
