I've decided I'm staying home on election day.

I said I was going to vote for McCain unless he supported this "bailout" bill. It seems they all want this thing. So true to my word. I have decided that I will write in my daughters name for president. She will get one vote for president. I've also come to the conclusion that no matter who wins this thing, they are going to be a one term president. The next president is going to have a real shit storm to clean up, two wars, 700 billion dollar bailout, plus a a huge debt load. high energy costs. I don't see McCain or Obama doing anything but paying bills the next 4 years. So it all boils down to the best bill payer.

Yeah, and it took Obama 20 years to pay off his student loans. :eusa_whistle:

And yeah, McCain's support of the bailout sealed the deal for me.

The man went to Columbia and Harvard. Those arent the most inexpensive schools in the nation. Its not like the guy has made millions of dollars until the book.

It took Obama 20 years to pay off his student loans?

Why didn't he just divorce his wife and marry a mafia heiress like McCain did?

Seems McCain has sealed his fate with many by supporting this bailout.

He had federal loans, which are capped. He can't have borrowed the full amount. In fact, I promise you I have more in student loans now than he had from his school, as the limits now are about twice what they were 20 years ago.

What's sad is that Obama didn't seal his. Neither of these two should be elected, but while I'm willing to admit that about McCain, Obamabots will never admit it about Obama.

I am going to give him a chance to change his stance, but he better be convincing. Either one of them could have wrapped up a landslide this week if they had read their e-mails.

Two candidates with a golden opportunity brought down by trying to sell a monster spending bill presented by a lame duck with a less than 20% approval rating.

Would anyone have bet on this story?

I'm just curious .... what exactly did you expect with McCain at ANY point in time? Certainly not an actual conservative?

What exactly did you expect from the GOP? The leader of the party and current President of the US is pushing this socialist bullshit harder than anyone.

People who want limited, minimal government at the lowest level, responsible fiscal spending, and minimal government incursions into the private sector such as this bailout of the lenders don't HAVE a party. The GOP proved that by shoving McCain down our throats.

At least the Dems were honest on that score. We expect the most left-wing screwball they can find and gloss over, and as usual, they delivered.

what is there to admit? the country is in financial trouble js.... if we were willing to foot the bill for a war of choice why the hell shouldn't we foot the bill to keep families and small businesses afloat? at least that's an investment in our future and we're guaranteed of getting most if not all the money back according to the bill I read.

So if he came out and opposed it NOW, you'd believe him? No wonder you people support the guy, as long as he swings his opinion your way, he's a fucking saint. I still can't forgive him for his church affiliation, but you must have bought that one hook, line, and sinker.

You're one of the main advocates bitching about the cost of the war, but now you want us to waste even more money fixing something that can't be fixed?

Way to fail.

Dude, have you ever been wrong, admitted it and meant it?

Yeah, I could be convinced that either one of them has seen the light on this issue... but not easily.

I don't bitch about the cost of war in dollars...I bitch about the war in cost of human life asshat. The money really is of no consequence to me in all honesty. I don't make enough to be really adversely affected either way. I'm below the radar when it comes to taxes and I'm a single mother so I get a bunch of tax credits.

I've said before my life probably stays pretty much the same regardless of who wins in November... it stayed the same under Bush and so I have no expectation that some great change will suddenly swing my way.

I have health insurance, I have a good job, I rent a nice house in a nice neighborhood, I have a cute car and I can afford to go out and do the things I like to do. I'm not in debt with credit cards and I don't live above my means.

BUT I do pay attention. Just because I'm not directly affected doesn't mean I don't care. This country needs to change course and the only one offering any real change is Obama.... if McCain were the McCain of 2000 it might be a tougher choice but that McCain is gone.
