The eighth amendment to the constitution forbids excessive fines and forfeitures in civil cases. The SCOTUS already ruled (9-0) on this in Timbs vs Indiana (2019). The state cannot assess excessive fines.

Trump will win on that alone.

Just depends on what the definition of is...is.
Dems don't always go by SCOTUS unless it agrees with their plans.

Who says the fine is excessive?

It is kinda funny that essentially the court is punishing a victimless crime.

Bank got interest. Trump got the loan. People got employed. Money was earned by all parties.

Kangaroo Court.
And the fines go to NYC/NYC State. This is exactly what the 8th Amendment was written for.

Speaking as a left Democrat, I'm appalled he would appeal this, we figured it was a done deal.

How about that 100K+ per day interest on his fine for being right of center?
