"Authoritarianism, principle of blind submission to authority, as opposed to individual freedom of thought and action. In government, authoritarianism denotes any political system that concentrates power in the hands of a leader or a small elite that is not constitutionally responsible to the body of the people. Authoritarian leaders often exercise power arbitrarily and without regard to existing bodies of law, and they usually cannot be replaced by citizens choosing freely among various competitors in elections. The freedom to create opposition political parties or other alternative political groupings with which to compete for power with the ruling group is either limited or nonexistent in authoritarian regimes."

authoritarianism | Definition & Facts

I know from experience that like an ostrich the supporters of Donald Trump and the members here who support the governance under the leadership of McConnell and Ryan, will not read the above link. It exposes Authoritarianism in general, and those governments in the past who are accepted as authoritarian and how they evolved.

For those who choose to mock this thread, none should call them patriots.

I'm a proud Authoritarian. The vast majority of human Ben t's have proven themselves unfit and unworthy to govern themselves and need a strong governmental force to ensure they think, speak and act properly at all times.

And what you'll NEVER understand, until it's too late is that Authoritarianism is a product of liberal/leftist/statist thinking.

Return to the government given by the Founding Fathers and abandon the need for a large, intrusive federal Government.

Yet you fight Trumps efforts to minimize the federal government EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!

Perfect description of the 8 years before Trump.

It's already happened.
When a president doesn't have to follow the law, like Obama, then you have an authoritarian government.
The PC crowd went after anyone who didn't spew out leftist talking-points.
At the same time, Trump can't drink a God Damned Soda Pop without you faggots raising Hell.
I wonder if the same thing happened under Stalin????

Sure, authoritarianism is the natural result of going too far in either political direction. It can happen to any country.

Trump has certainly exhibited those tendencies at times, and his supporters have obediently followed right along.

On the other end are the Regressive Leftists, illiberal leftist authoritarians, constantly leveraging & weaponizing PC and Identity Politics.

Both ends clearly demonstrate for us regularly why moderation and pragmatism must win the day, before it's too late.

Authoritarianism is the result of going too far into the authoritarian direction. Anyone who advocates freedom would not support such a thing, no matter how extreme.

Some people, even moderates, really want to control your and everyone's lives on the other hand.

Trump is NOT "on one END of the political spectrum."

Sorry, you don't have very much credibility.

Give me the strongest bullet point from your article, supporting your partisan claim, and I will address it seriously and honestly.

Did you know that you could be arrested for saying the wrong thing in the UK?

People like you have power and they have used it to end Free Speech.

I agree with you that we should undo all that Obama and Clinton have done.

It happened under el Jefe Obama (Spying on Americans, reporters, the media, US Senators, USSC Members ... using the IRS as a weapon against US citizens...)...and the aftermath (an exposed criminal FBI, DOJ, etc) is still being felt.

Hillary was right - 'Those (snowflakes) who refuse to accept the results of elections are THREATS TO OUR DEMOCRACY!'

Funny how lefties get hysterical about "authoritarianism" during republican administrations. They didn't mind when Clinton's FBI used tanks and poison gas to kill 80 men, women and children at Waco. They didn't mind when Hillary used government resources to intimidate the victims of her husband's sexual abuse with her "bimbo eruption squad". They didn't mind when Hussein used the IRS to intimidate and punish political enemies or when federal cops shipped 3,000 illegal weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

The OP proved the total stupidity of the regressives. He threw out a blanket definition and provided ZERO examples how Trump or the congressional leadership would fall within that definition. It's the responsibility of the OP to provide direction to the conversation, this idiot provided none. So the only logical conclusion is:

We're all gonna die!!!!!!!!!!!!
