Am not convinced it ever was the idea to over run Gaza and essentially remove it from the map .

In support of that I suspect that the US and Israel are unable to successfully fight Hezbollah and Iran, with Russia and China watching closely ,simply because they do not have the firepower---- guns and ammunition available .
They would lose ( a practised US habit) apart from probably bringing down the whole western economic and financial set up .
In such a scenario you would need to believe that it was all deliberate Deep Strategy, which I find more than hard to envisage .
