For Israel, it is about how to protect the Israeli people from Hamas, and it is clear now the only way to do it is to destroy Hamas. Because Hamas uses civilians as human shields, a lot of Gaza civilians will likely die during this operation, but if Israel does not destroy Hamas, Israeli civilians will die, so Israel has no real choice but to proceed with the operation.
