It's not their interpretation, it's the text that is actually in the Koran.

Many believe the Koran and Islam cannot be reformed like Judaism and Christianity did with their books. It is an absolutist document. There is very little "love they neighbor" and "forgiveness" in the Koran. It's all about submission and obedience.
