Hi, my name is Holly and I'm doing a school project on what I've learned in my class and I need your help!!! PLEASE keep ALL your responses and comments clean and educated so I can turn your feedback into my professor.
What are your opinions on how we can stop racism or even deal with it better?

Racism is big business for many. As long as it's profitable it will exist. Unfortunately it's not without its victims

I know that EVERYTHING in the world now a days has to do with money, but we shouldn't be trying to make money off of hurting someone else. We should ALL be working together to better our world we live in so why would anyone want to make money from damaging our world? Money definitely isn't that important!!

But it is money that separates us more than anything else.

You don't see the well off (regardless of race) living with or mingling with the not so well off.

Racism, porn, drugs, pirating, sex trade, sweat shops etc... All uglyand or evil avenues for some to get wealthy.

That is sooooo true!! I definitely agree with u on that!! But it should NOT be that way and we should ALL work together to try and change that somehow. It's not fair to people, mainly the minority group. I feel that there is not ONE white, black, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, etc. person that is any BETTER than another person of their SAME race. They might have more money, better clothes, better car, bigger house, lighter or darker skin, but they are the same race as another person and that doesn't make them NO BETTER!! It doesn't even make them NO BETTER than someone of a different race either, but the world looks at it a whole different way and separates everyone into different groups and races and that's why there are always stereotypes too that aren't fair to people either.

Take all of the chairs out of the front half of buses so that everyone has no choice but to sit in the back.
So u think that if we forced whites and blacks or any races to interact with one another then that could HELP racism?

Or we could just get rid of buses altogether.
Well years ago when segregation was in effect there were separate EVERYTHING (buses, restrooms, restaurants, housing, schools, etc.) and I think racism was a bigger problem back then than it is today. So desegregation definitely helped the world SOME, but I don't see why that didn't stop racism altogether. We are ALL human beings and I feel that there is not one person better than the next, no matter what color ur skin is or what part of the world u came from. One person might have more money, better car, nicer clothes, bigger house, lighter or darker skin, etc., but that doesn't make them ANY better than another person of their same race or different race.

Find a way to educate people. I cant understand why people dont see it. The wealthy pit the poor against each other. This is not a new dynamic. This has repeatedly happened throughout US history.

I COMPLETELY agree with u on educating people more about racism will help reduce A LOT of the racism issues we face now a days. That's what I love so much about the class I'm doing this project for, my professor does an EXCELLENT job on educating our class about many race issues that we face. If we could get more people to do the educating and also get more people to participate in being educated about racism the I think we could definitely reduce a lot of racism around the world.

We have also learned the concept of the term "race essentialism" in this class that I'm doing this project for. Race essentialism is the concept that races share behavioral traits. There is in fact far more diversity within one same race than there is between two different races.

Black thug culture, just like redneck white trash culture, disdains education.

How do you change that?

If you want input for academic purposes, please cut out the "u" and "ur" childishness.

Hi Holly,

It needs to be addresssed from different angles, its a problem that requires really strong leadership in the sense that a strong leadership can pull people together by example and not rhetoric and lip service alone. A message of the importrance of personal responsibility and self determination, need to put out there very strongly and often. Its really in the end , up to each individual to have love and respect for his fellow man but there are so many road blocks to that. We really should see ourselves as one nation and not all these groups that we see, we need to think of ourselves as Americans first, and the rest should follow, but when courses of action are taken by the media and the political that further divide us... it makes this nearly impossible. Forgivness, and responsibility are always given lip service but never really taken seriously, because so many people want their grievance taken care of FIRST.
Again, I think it is a Top - down problem, sensationalism in the news often stokes the flames because journalists these days are really editoralizing
instead of taking time to properly cover both sides . Jounalism and news these days is Less about educating the public to an issue as much as it is
SELLING the story,

Sorry Holly, Im no expert, and the problem seems to be a cyclical one, there are so many levels and directions inside and out to approach the problem
that I almost dont know where to start, one post, doesnt even scratch the surface, hope that helped at all.

Thats not entirely true. Black thug culture is the result of lack of opportunity and a clearly defined way out of poverty. I have known some big time drug dealers that were avid scholars and very intelligent. The perception that the system is rigged against you from birth results in a "fuck it" attitude. Real gains need to be made in the media as far as the narrative they put out there about Blacks. There are millions of Black professionals but all you see on TV are the gangstas. Think of it like this. Something is being sold and its not the concept of Black success.

Nothing is entirely true.

All generalizations are false, including these.

That said, white trash culture is a result of a lack of opportunity too, and they feel just as trapped and plotted against by "the Man".

Maybe I should have said black entitlement culture, as I do respect thugs that have the ambition to climb out by any means necessary.

I have always seen drug dealing a civil disobedience more than crime.

Robbing, stealing, intimidating, not the same.

You would know more about the white trash culture than I would. From where i am sitting it is incomprehensible that you can be white and poor in this country. The social brainwashing automatically give you a leg up. You are taught from birth that white is right and you basically created the universe. You have examples of white success beamed to you via the media on a daily basis. How does one feel trapped when all you have to do is not be lazy and apply yourself?
