The ADL also has roots in protecting organized crime. In the early 1900 New York Police Commissioner Thomas Bingham was conducting an investigation into organized crime in NY City. The Brofman family that was well represented Canadians in NYC would later by linked to rum running and bootlegging criminals such as Lansky.
