Is the Democratic Party waking up?

I don't see the Democrats waking up. They're still convinced that the voters who have rejected them "just don't understand". They have yet to question the principles they are selling, or why people aren't buying.
The unknown here is how far the infection has really hit the party.

As with anything political, it's the loudest voices that get the most attention and ultimately have the most influence. But several Democrats have spoken out, and I know there are many traditional Democrats who don't like what they're seeing. The problem is that, by their very nature, they're less likely to be the ones screaming and losing their shit.

So the question to me is whether enough momentum can be started and maintained for the nutters to be marginalized.
.

I don't see it happening in time for this election. And I'm not sure the nation can survive another four years of the Trump crazy train.

That's pretty much my concern.

Early enthusiasm for Sanders reveals that the loudest voices aren't just screaming and losing their shit but they are winning. Yeah, the less irrational Dems are there but losing their grip. Consider how they tried and failed to reign in the party loons on impeachment despite knowing it would backfire.

I'm not sure where the non-Bernie Democrats go if he's nominated. Sure, the anti-Trump sentiment will bring most of them out, but I do wonder how many stay home.

What do you think will happen to the republic over the next 5 years with Trump as POTUS? Please be more specific than the articles of impeachment were.

Is there any Dem 2020 hopeful you believe would do better?

It's kind of creepy how the similar the situation is with Trump's primary run. The moderate candidates are all attacking each other, while Bernie sweeps up a plurality of the leftovers. He could win with that.

I'm done arguing with Trumpsters - sorry. He's insane. If you don't see it, there's not much to talk about.

Many will regardless of the nominee.
Fully 1/3 of the vote will be hardcore anti-Trump but depending on the candidate it will be a struggle for any of 'em to hit 45%.

He ran on jobs and enforcing the immigration laws.

IF you think that is insane, then you are insane.

I wasn't asking for an argument but rather what harm you believe Trump has done and/or will do.

You don't seem to have specifics but you are certain that you hate the POTUS.

I'm sorry but would you rather we have a socialist gov't and country?

If you think slipshod candidates and angry outbursts including assault and attempted murder is an indication of "waking up" maybe you are right.

Sure, AOC and her two congressional friends.

You're welcome.
.

How are they bigots?
Look up the definition.

I let you play "20 Questions" yesterday. Not today.

Make a clear point. For a change.
.

Just answer the question. How is AOC a bigot? How did you come to the conclusion that the Democratic party is infiltrated or being lead astray (paraphrasing) by bigots?
Observation.
.

Once again Mac you make claims and when questioned can't or are unable to back them up.
Sure, AOC and her two congressional friends. You're welcome.
Wow, you couldn't even come up with names for the other two, but let's assume you are talking about Tailb and Omar. You know, the scary Muslims that have you wetting yourself. So 3 members out of a Congressional Delegation of 380 Democrats in Congress.
How did you come up with 380 congressional Dems?

Counting senators, but you're right, I carried a one I shouldn't have.

... would you rather we have a socialist gov't and country?

Nope. We're pretty much fucked either way. Our only hope is to break out from under the two-party death spiral. But I don't see that happening either.

Break out and into what?

We all hope for better but realistically we are faced with Trump vs Socialist.

So what say ye and what damage has Trump done (or will he do) to our republic over his next 5 years as POTUS?

THey are also the ones least likely to get off their asses and do something. The Wall Street Democrats were all for Biden until they weren't. Now they are hoping that Bloomberg can inspire people. Or maybe Mayor Pete before people figure out he's gay.

So let's review here. The "Moderate" wing of the Democratic party has gotten behind Biden. But Biden turned out to be a big dud no one got behind. Meanwhile, for the last four years, Bernie has actually been building a movement and reframing the discussion on a lot of issues like Wealth Inequality and Universal Health Care.

So while Stormy Mac says something like, "You know what we really need. More insurance companies gouging the health care consumer!!!" most of us in the real world who don't work on Wall Street say, "Meh, not so much."

Personally, I'm a little wary of Bernie, but unlike Stormy Mac, I understand EXACTLY how we got here... and it wasn't because the leftists are being "mean" or "wild-eyed" or "loud". It's just the same shit the establishment has been selling for the last 30 years isn't selling anymore.

I'm not sure where the non-Bernie Democrats go if he's nominated. Sure, the anti-Trump sentiment will bring most of them out, but I do wonder how many stay home.

Very few. End of the day, they'll realize that Congress still will be full of moderate Democrats who are owned by Wall Street.

It's kind of creepy how the similar the situation is with Trump's primary run. The moderate candidates are all attacking each other, while Bernie sweeps up a plurality of the leftovers. He could win with that.

He could. But here's the thing. IN terms of policy, Trump wasn't that far off from the rest of the pack. Bernie isn't that far off from the rest of his pack. The difference is sincerity. All the Republicans say they hate Gays and Mexicans, just like Jesus did, but Trump really meant it... or at least he sounded sincere.

When Bernie says "Health Care Reform", he means more than, "Let's just warm up that big insurance shit the Republicans have been proposing since 1994" he actually, you know. Means it.

LOL - you're kidding yourself. Welfare for All will be the same-old, same-old. The same corporatist shitshow. The same rent-seeking corporations piggy backing on state efforts to herd people.

Have no interest in a dictator, whether they wear a left or right label. Politically we have reached the bottom of the barrel. and the worse thing for me is I am helpless, for the 1st time I have no choice, its always been a bummer that usually I end up voting against some one as apposed to voting for some one. this time????? sad state of affairs.

You can't vote "against" someone. Our system doesn't allow that. The only way to get past this is to reject the "lesser-of-two-evils" mentality and vote for the candidate/party that represents your views - regardless of whether the press says they can win.
