"is it our moral duty to have fewer children?"

Population Control
Moral Maze
This week the Moral Maze asks: "is it our moral duty to have fewer children?" The question has been brought in to focus by two stories in the past week. First, that by 2027 the population of the UK isexpected to top 70 million people and the second that China is to end its "one child" policy. With 238,737 births every day the world population is rapidly approaching 7 and a half billion and will be 8 billion by 2024. While many people will be campaigning for tougher policies at next month's UN climate change conference, should they also be calling for policies to control population growth?

Are the Oceans Running Out of Fish?

How the world’s oceans could be running out of fish

We will continue to manage the resources of the planet more productively and efficiently, as we always have. We certainly have a lot of room for progress in that regard. Don't fret, Chicken Little.

Hmmmm...malthuis had a theory that was debunked long ago as people adapt and overcome limited resources.....The Israelis are working on getting baby fish to survive their first few weeks by overcoming their inability to feed if they are sucessfull and it is implemented then the amount of fish in the ocean would explode in numbers this is just one example there are many more...If we as a species were controlled by our fears and negativities we would still be living in caves(some of us still are) ... Regardless we will adapt to whatever is thrown our way and overcome it...Think..... is it our destiny to stay on this one planet or is it our destiny to spread out among the stars....if we are to spread then our population is much much to small to say the least.....
