All of these current scandals, actions, and lies are not good for America.

Do you think we are on our way to becoming an Orwellian society? Why?

(Please remember to vote. :))

Yes.

We have a government class which acts for its own interests (power accretion, rent seeking) at the expense of the people it is supposed to represent and protect.

We no longer have a Rule of Law. We have a Whim of Bureaucrats system.

Keep The Aspidistra Flying!!!!!!

Seems to me America is becoming more draconian than orwellian.

But then again sometimes I like to split hairs. :D

The more power these politicians have, the more they'll try to consolidate their power. This is why the Tea Partiers have a point when it comes to having smaller government. When the government fears the people, there's liberty. Right now with all of this crap going on, these massive designs for gathering data and the corruption at the IRS and the snooping of the AP by Eric Holder... we have reason to fear the government.

Plans like this that have been set in motion are like snowballs rolling down a snowy hill. They get added upon, and become bigger and more powerful with time. We had the Patriot Act, it was given steroids, and now what else? What will they come up with next? I think that every time a line is drawn, our government will continue to cross it, step by step.

Considering how drugged up our society is becoming, and the "it takes a village / we own your children" attitude of progressives, an argument can be made that Huxley was more prophetic than Orwell.

A drugged out population and a totalitarian government aren't mutually exclusive, bub.

Never said they were.

Furthermore, if you're suggesting that the government depicted in Huxley's Brave New World isn't totalitarian, then you've either never read it or you're a dummy, not that those two are mutually exclusive either.

The waste of time and resources looking for "scandals" where there are none, and the constant expensive and FAKE bills to repeal ObamaCare, the almost daily War On Women attacks - all of that is NOTHING but noise designed to keep the rw fools in an uproar so they don't notice reality.

The worst was when the right sold out the integrity of ALL US media to foreign interests. Yes, fux is the worst but they're not the only ones. Not by a long shot.

There has never been a time when we didn't have a faction of the US trying to bring us down. But we always held on to certain strengths - our Constitution that the right is attacking almost daily now and the unshakable integrity of our journalists.

Now, most news comes from a MUSLIM ARAB OIL SHEIK and a large percentage of our population thinks that's just fine because they're too stupid to understand the difference between entertainment and news.

Don't even bother saying any other new organization is the same or as bad. WATCH them and you'll see that's not the case at all. Nonetheless, its true that opinion is now passing for news on line and in other media.

But, the day the right influenced the FCC to allow foreign interests to own and control the "news" we see, THAT is the day our country changed. And we can never get it back because people don't think there's anything wrong with getting their news from a MUSLIM ARAB OIL SHEIK.

Baloney.

teepotters want bigger government. The bigger the better. The fewer freedoms, the fewer rights, the happier the silly ass teepotters are. Just be glad some of the worst have been kicked out of congress and cross your fingers we can get rid of the rest of them.

You were fine when Bush (actually, his dick of a veep) pushed through the patriot act and was watching our every move. The difference now is there is more oversight. Sorry, but its true. Look it up.

The worst is that the patriot act is here to stay. Left or right, NO president will ever repeal it. And you have the rw voters to thank for it.

Thanks for the dose of realism. Our country has been threatened by worse and will be again - and we survive.

But still, I'd like to have our journalism back.

The whole key is bringing back the fairess doctrine again, so at least there's SOME debate on Rush, Beck, Breitbart Inc, etc etc. I think they're in retreat, but their die hards are un-American and scary stupid/loudmouth...

Seeing Luddly and Franco congratulate each other on "realism" is like watching Moe and Larry congratulate each other for scholarship.

The so-called fairness doctrine is anathema to freedom and free speech.

We'd all be better served if you took it and shoved it up your ass.

Spoken like true perfect chumps of the greedy idiot rich GOP. True ugly American ignorami. See sig for what you're not told and the hater bs you are, dingbats.

Except that I voted a straight democratic ballot in 2012.

But don't let me disillusion you, you're more funny being a deluded twat.
