The PC business can’t climb out of the four-year hole it’s dug for itself, researcher IDC said today.

Notice they aren't blaming Obama like you are?

IDC blamed the latest shrinkage in shipments on a variety of factors, ranging from the strong dollar to larger-than-expected OEMs’ and sellers’ inventories, for the ongoing problem getting systems off factory floors.

The macro reason, however, remained the same as in quarters, and years, past: Consumers have simply not bothered to buy new PCs to replace their increasingly-aging machines, using dollars, euros and pounds that might have previously been spent on a personal computer to instead buy smartphones and, to a lesser extent, tablets.

That’s not to mean the PC is dead—as in no longer used—argued IDC. “Despite the substantial shift in spending and usage models from PCs toward tablets and phones in recent years, very few people are giving up on their PC—they are just making it last longer,” said IDC analyst Loren Loverde in a statement.

Now admit you are a stupid partisan hack.

yeah, Obama has nothing to do with massive layoffs.

Weak PC sales, Intel recently acquired Altera and it's 3,000 employees creating double positions and Intel just launched a new manufacturing cycle which reduces manufacturing capex and R&D.

Then why are they buying smartphones? Gartner Says Worldwide Smartphone Sales Grew 9.7 Percent in Fourth Quarter of 2015
Gartner Says Worldwide Smartphone Sales Grew 9.7 Percent in Fourth Quarter of 2015

“Low-cost smartphones in emerging markets, and strong demand for premium smartphones, continued to be the driving factors,” said Anshul Gupta, research director at Gartner. “An aggressive pricing from local and Chinese brands in the midrange and entry-level segments of emerging markets led to consumers upgrading more quickly to affordable smartphones.”

Mr. Gupta said that 85 percent of users in the emerging Asia/Pacific market are replacing their current midrange phone with the same category of phone. In addition, currency devaluations against the U.S. dollar in many emerging markets are putting further margin pressure on many vendors that import devices. Current market conditions are prompting some vendors to consider setting up manufacturing operations in India and Indonesia to avoid being hit by future unfavorable currency devaluations and high import taxes.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, Samsung and Huawei were the only two top-five smartphone vendors to increase their sales to end users (see Table 1). Apple suffered its first decline in sales of smartphones — iPhone sales were down 4.4 percent.

It's impossible to talk economics with someone who's being a political hack.

yeah, Obama has nothing to do with massive layoffs.
Remember we blamed Bush for the economy and you retards said, "The president doesn't have much if anything to do with the economy blablabla". Remember you fucking dopes said that? Even gas. You said Bush didn't have anything to do with gas prices but then you tried to blame Obama for gas prices. That is until prices dropped and you went right back to not giving Obama credit for low gas prices.

We can't take you people seriously.

How can any tech company compete with Chinese slave labor?

This is where we hear the Democrats and typical Republicans defend "free trade"- in other words, they won't lift a finger to stop China from profiting from their slave labor and our asinine trade laws.

Of course the Chinese are buying phones, Obama is outsourcing American jobs to them.

Remember you argued you wanted cheap products so you defended Walmart?

You guys even defended illegals. Even your last two Republican nominees were OK with illegals doing jobs Americans won't do. Completely ignoring they were here doing jobs Americans would do

Gotta love Liberals. When people were being laid off in 2008 it was Bush's fault. When people are laid off today it's a "variety" of economic factors none of which are Obama's fault. Same thing when gas prices high during Bush's presidency Liberals like Pelosi, Reid, Obama and Wasserman-Schultz were blaming President Bush. When gas prices rose to $4 is some areas under Obama, all of suddenly the president isn't responsible for gas prices. Liberals. LOL
