Home insurance prices in the state of Florida are forcing many residents to consider moving out of the state altogether, Newsweek reported Monday.

The Insurance Information Institute released a study showing that Florida's insurance premiums are the highest in the country, with residents paying more than $4,200 per year while the national average is $1,700.

The insurance crisis is worsened by some companies deciding to stop doing business in the state altogether.

"Skyrocketing costs are made worse by an ongoing insurance crisis that has seen 15 major insurers, including Farmers, deciding to leave the state over the last year," Newsweek's report stated. "Many cited the increased risk of extreme weather events in the state, which scientists attribute to global warming, as one of the reasons for pulling out of Florida."

You mean people and businesses are fleeing a shithole red state, run by corrupt Republicans including the governor, that give their crony supporters gravy train jobs at double the salaries of those they replaced at tax payer expense, while their tax paying citizens and businesses pay ever increasing fees, and can't get insurance for their homes and businesses?

hmm...imagine that

Be clear.

It has nothing to do with being a red state.

Those rates would be just as high if it were a blue state.

I'll bet you are too stupid to figure out why, but I think I'll just let your idiotic reply blow right on by.

You do see the problem don't you? the subject claims they are fleeing, the article says they are considering.

and this part right here, pure garbage:

Why are premiums in Florida so high? Rampant insurance fraud.

In Florida, it's traditional for everyone, about once every 10 years, to make a claim of "roof damage", requiring a complete roof replacement. There doesn't have to actually be any "roof damage", just normal wear and tear. There are scads of roofing-related companies that specialize in helping homeowners file such claims.

A functioning government could address that. Instead, Florida gets DeSantis and the Republicans, who are too fixated on "wokeness" to actually govern.

Are the other red states on the gulf coast experiencing the same problems with insurance? Florida's insurance is the highest in the nation.

How Florida's insurance crisis is haunting Ron DeSantis' campaign

"The DeSanctimonious super-PAC, Always Back Down, should focus more on Florida property and auto insurance, which has zoomed to highest-in-the-nation status, and highest by far," the former president said in a video posted to social media earlier this month. "Come home, Ron, where you belong. Get those insurance rates way down, because what's happening in Florida shouldn't happen anywhere."

The governor has overseen a dramatic rise in home insurance premiums and legislative giveaways to insurance companies.

Ask the insurance companies why Florida is so much higher.

Couldn't it possibly be that Florida gets hit by more hurricanes than the others?

What four states have been most frequently hit by hurricanes since 1900?

Where Do Hurricanes Hit the Most in the United States?

Florida: 120 hurricanes (37 were Category 3 through Category 5)
Texas 64 hurricanes (19 were Category 3 through Category 5)
North Carolina: 55 hurricanes (7 were Category 3 through Category 5)
Louisiana: 54 hurricanes (17 were Category 3 through Category 5)

It is worse than that premium for houses and businesses right on the coasts of Florida, with insurance premium exceeding mortgage payment in some cases.

The property values are some of the highest too. Derp!

It's happening in California too. Same thing. Many of the major insurers are just not writing home policies any more. A lot won't offer commercial insurance either. Our Farmer's insurance company wants the entire premium up front now. This is a democrat state.
