Years ago, the Seattle times posted a big front page article about a woman whose husband had been declared deceased and she'd been collecting on his social security for YEARS. all of a sudden, the payments stopped. The SSA said her husband was alive and living in CA. No follow up. You know what that means? Some illegal stole her husband's identity and she lost her retirement.

Stop trying to defend illegals who steal other peoples identities. That is a crime and a BIG one. I can only hope that it happens to those defending the illegals instead of the rest of us.

Mr Martinez should be in jail, as should the person who hired him and the reporter who didn't turn him into the immigration authorities.

Most of the numbers are made up. The treasury knows this and accepts the money under those numbers. That is one way we keep up with where they are.

It is not legal for illegals to collect welfare. If states are allowing this there is a problems. When I took Immigration Law the prof brought in some of the fake IDs that have been used. NO ONE would believe they were legit. So, if the states are allowing it, the states are getting what they deserve.

On a side note - anyone here have had really bad hail storms in the past 5 years or so? The kind that absolutely requires replacing your homes roof?

I'm replacing my roof this year...with Americans who were laid off due to the hiring of illegals to do their jobs. Yeah, I have to get the permit myself and I don't get the "guarantee" of using a roofing company, but they are my friends and they need the work/money. I couldn't find a roofing company that uses E-Verify. And of course, when I asked, they acted like I was racist, "we use mostly white workers". I don't give a crap what color they are... I want them to be LEGAL!!!!

I don't know about the illegals, but Bush pushed for and passed a bill to allow Mexicans to collect social security after working in our country for only 6 quarters or a year and 1/2. The rest of us Americans have to work for 10 years before we can collect social security.

Your statement would not show illegals using your ss#. If you are concerned, your best bet is to get a private company that protects your ID. They run a check every so often. The government doesn't care if they collect from an illegal on your number, but they sure as heck make you pay for it when you retire by proving exactly which jobs you've held for your entire life.
