If you like your doctor you can keep your whining to yourself. The new American healthcare: Only the rich get doctors.

Not it's not. At best, it's the equivalent of a little kid shifting their food around on their plates trying to convince you they've eaten most of their peas.
You have no idea what you're talking about.

NPs/PAs are already the backbone of the whole system.

How you got there I have no idea.

My pointing out the society-breaking consequences of a generation too large to be accommodated by those following it does not equal...

:)
Boomers do take up more of the cost of Health care than any other. Because we're the oldest. And older people tend to have more health problems, genius.

Sick people tend to have more healthcare costs than -- Say, Not-Sick people. And, (are you sitting down?) Older people tend to get sick more often.

Got it, you little National Socialist?

What's next for you? Letting sick babies die? Letting injured people die? Anybody else you want to kill off while you're at it? White people maybe? Men of any race, maybe? Anybody prettier than you (which would include 90% of the world)? betcha

One thing I've noticed about you over time -- You are one sick individual. If you're an individual. I'm going with 'bot, because I'm not sure that much stupidity can be packaged in one person

Wooooosh!

Too. Many. Boomers.

Get it?

See above.

I'm flattered to be noticed, but I AM spoken for. :)

Flattery...

You have no idea what you're talking about.

NPs/PAs are already the backbone of the whole system.

Actually you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about. PAs and NPs have defined scopes of practice, and laws vary by state. There are a variety of restrictions that can apply. Ultimately, there fairly few examples of PAs or NPs who practice independently, without the supervision of a physician. In the vast majority of cases, they may perform advanced tasks, but don't function in ways that could replace primary care physicians.

That aside, shifting tasks from one understaffed field to another understaffed field solves nothing. The healthcare system has already been supplementing physician shortages for decades by shifting increasing burdens onto PAs and into nursing practice. All you're suggesting is to double down on an inadequate solution.

Talk about the backbone of a society.

Jeebus we'd be in trouble if not for Latin skill/labor.
My neighbors three doors down are from Australia. The Man (mid-late 30's) is one of the better mechanics I've seen and his wife is an RN. Their Son is an athlete and all-around good kid. Their daughter is a beautiful child.

The goobermint is forcing them to leave. I talked to him a couple weeks ago and the whole family is upset. I mean, seriously upset. His wife seems to constantly be in tears and the kids are on the verge of panic. They've all been here for over ten years.

Something happened with the Visa. Don't get it. Something about work -- Whatever. But they're being forced to leave.

Meanwhile we've got thousands and thousands of beaners living in shitholes, driving like idiots (one of them just ran over and crushed my SIL. Wrecked her back, she is essentially crippled for life. When the Cops showed up at his house, he laughed at them) They turned him to the Feds and -- Nothing.

You know nothing. You are the stupidest piece of shit on the forum and, trust me, that is not an easy accomplishment.

Well then you have to file bankruptcy.
Again, we write off millions in unpaid bills every year. Don’t get me wrong, we make shitloads of money off of insurance. The uninsured show up here too but they are not really the big drag. The big drag we have is the $8,000 bill after insurance and we see about $400 of it. 5%.

No.

Jeebus but you're a dimwit.

All I said was that they're the backbone.

I'm sad that you're so incompetent. :(

Sad story.

Hmmm…should we trust the word of a TDS’ing lefty in cyberspace or the word from the Chief BP agent?

Which Party has fought to provide free healthcare for Mexico’s people?
Which Party has fought for sanctuary for Mexico’s criminals?
Which Party has fought against mandatory e-verify?

Come on man…time to pull head from ass.

you failed to address my point, why is that?

But even your beloved Trump did not slow the flow of illegals until 2020 and that was due to COVID and not Trump.

To push those peas around it sounds like you think the kid should be provided a bulldozer instead of a spoon.

I think that if we want to solve problems we have to actually address the root problems of them, not settle for superficial solutions that merely shift the problem somewhere else.

Our country has a physician shortage. We also have a nursing shortage. We can't solve the problem by trying to transition into a nursing based system of primary care. All that will happen is that we'll have an even wider nursing shortage.

Nursing shortages are due to mostly the same causes as physician shortages. There aren't enough available slots in nursing schools to educate sufficient quantities of students to keep up with demand for the labor. This causes the work to be all the more stressful, and subsequently leads to increased departures from the labor pool.

Even if we pour an infinite amount of money into additional education for existing nurses to move into NP roles so that the system transition into primary care nursing instead of primary care medicine, we're still going to have an ever increasing shortage of primary care providers.

But chances are that shortage will accelerate. NPs are already in high demand. Many hospitals will provide full tuition reimbursement for nurses to go back to school. But the demands of doing the job under perpetual labor shortages drives people out instead of up. Increased strain on the nursing system caused by transitioning to a nursing primary care model could become a disaster.
