The AR-15 is not an assault weapon it is a civilian self defense rifle......and by calling for an assault weapon ban, uninformed Americans are giving the anti gunners the argument they need to ban semi auto pistols. How? They say we need to ban Assault rifles because they can kill a lot of people at one go.

Leaving aside the fact that knives were used to murder 1,604 people in 2015, and over 1,500 people every single year...the anti gunners will get the AR-15, and then use the exact same argument to get semi auto pistols after the next mass shooting.

Why?

This guy murdered 26.....the Virginia Tech shooter murdered 32, with 2 semi auto pistols...the Luby's Cafe shooter murdered 23 people, with 2 semi auto pistols...............

and having given in to the argument against AR-15s uninformed Americans will have no ground to defend semi auto pistols which can kill just as many people.

And the anti gunners know this. And then, after they get semi auto pistols...after the next mass shooting where the killer uses several revolvers, they will be taken too....and on and on....one gun, one magazine at a time.....

So...with the above being the case....if you support an assault weapon ban as a gun owner, how do you justify your Glock, Sig Saur, Smith and Wesson.....?

Because you can put a 20x scope on a pistol and it has less rounds for mass destruction.
Lower the chances of mass death even though it can still be used to kill many but any small step for American's safety is worth the small price of freedom being taken from banning BIG GUNS.

The same argument that is used against civilian self defense rifles will be used against semi auto pistols first, then revolvers, then bolt action rifles, and finally, pump action shotguns....

If you allow them to take civilian rifles under the dumb argument that they can kill a lot of people, then you might as well hand over our Glock, Sig, M&P., Brettea.....because those are next. Knives in 2015 were used to murder 1,604 people.....and every single year murder over 1,500.

Seems to me the least killy of the killing tools is the gun in mass public shootings....

saying that Rifles and Pistols are both comparatively the same just because they both can kill is wrong, one IS more effective at the job of killing than the other a pistol can still accomplish the needs of most that want to defend themselves.
The slippery slope argument is false since banning a AR does not lead to a ban on pistols since both are entirely different despite both being guns.

Those weapons have been used to kill more people simply because they are more available not because they are just as efficient.
Again a pistol and a AR are not used for the same job despite both being guns.

You are right about the last assault rifle ban being pointless.

Comparing vans and guns is a logical problem.

If I have marbles on the floor my toddler can choke on and outlets he can pry off the wall and get to the wiring behind them, is there a reason i shouldn't pick up the marbles while I figure out if anything can be done about the outlets?

But yeah, it would take a Constitutional Ammendment to really ban guns and a generation or more for it to have any positive effect. It just isn't gonna happen, we don't have that type of attention span as a country

I hope not......but the Germans convinced the German people to register their guns in the 1920s....using all the same arguments the anti gunners are using now.....20 years later......the unarmed people were put into gas chambers...it doesn't take that long when the left wing socialists get power...

I was playing devils advocate here for fun but I believe the best argument is what you brought up in the last post.
The government works for the people not the other way around, it makes no sense to give the employ more power than you the boss since then he becomes the boss when given more power than you.

The people should always have the ability to stop the government when it reaches a point when it is no longer for the people and just for the government.
We vote for the politicians who have our choices and faith so they make and remove laws that we would make if we had ourselves in office, mess this up by making it so that politicians are not held responsible for immoral or incompetent action and guess what they will continue to make immoral and or incompetent action with no chance of being removed and stopped.

"That will never happen in America!" Wonder if the other countries that succumbed to tyranny said the same.
