Following the Regan regime where the rich were coddled and taxes on them cut, the vast majority in the American middle class began lo9sing ground. Can you deny that? [/QUOTE]

Some my best earning years along with the people I worked with were during the Reagan years and beyond including through the Clinton years, so yes I can deny that. If you are referring to the results of LBJ 'Great Society' policies than I can say yes it was the result of the entitlement era.

The income disparity relegated wealth to the few while it drained it from the many. And, in theory, that wealth was supposed to precipitate back down to those who actually did the work.

But today, the way to get really really wealthy is not to produce a damn thing. Wealth does not trickle down to the innovators and inventors. The way to become really really wealthy is to play the casino on Wall Street. To divest, to invest, to build a portfolio.

Maybe a direct result of Clinton signing NAFTA in part but more likely a result of LBJ and Carter's policies.

Stop and frisk was initiated by Guilliani. Read before you criticize (a sentiment as useful to a Conservative ideologue as dust in the breeze)

Not being from NY but I read the 'stop and frisk' policies cut crime by several percentage points especially the murder rate. So I guess maybe if NY want to stop the 'stop and frisk' policy we can expect the murder rate to rival Chicago in the near future. If that is the case it will be on those who oppose the policy.

And just how on earth do you expect workplace safety to happen without regulation and enforcement? Or are you of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company school of thought? "terrorize American business"! In the Conservative universe, you're just supposed to terrorize workers and turn a blind eye toward business.

The laws are on the books passed over the last 100 years and we don't need any more regulations, just enforcement of the current ones. Over regulations stops job growth as witnessed over the last five years.

From a political ideology that champions the rich and does everything in their power to assure the rich that their marginal tax rate will be lower than that of teachers and firemen and police officers and the receptionist at the front desk we get absolutely no understanding of what a vibrant middle class means to America. Why should we get on board with that?

The first part of that comment is a total lie and the second part if you are referring to Warren Buffett and his receptionist... the truth is Buffett taxes are based on capital gains which has a lower tax rate than a personnel income tax rate. His receptionist is on income earned. Apples and oranges.
The fact is right now the US corporate tax rate is the highest in the world. If you don't like the loopholes in the law, write your congressman to change the laws which by the way were passed in the first place by members of both parties. We will see if you can get any changes to the tax laws pass Harry Reid.

Mississippi where the schools suck all the way up to the university level, you can expect to find unmounted car tires used as landscape accents and where you can find a bunch of ignorant hayseed rednecks making decisions.

Is that kind of like the opposite of Detroit of the North? Where liberals and public unions destroyed a once great city?

Following the Regan regime where the rich were coddled and taxes on them cut, the vast majority in the American middle class began lo9sing ground. Can you deny that? yes, b/c the economy vastly improved. Especially when compared to what Carter did to all of us. The income disparity relegated wealth to the few while it drained it from the many. lie And, in theory, that wealth was supposed to precipitate back down to those who actually did the work.

But today, the way to get really really wealthy is not to produce a damn thing. Wealth does not trickle down to the innovators and inventors. lie The way to become really really wealthy is to play the casino on Wall Street. trueish. you can get rich by investing in companies that make things, w/o these companies... To divest, to invest, to build a portfolio.

Stop and frisk was initiated by Guilliani. Read before you criticize (a sentiment as useful to a Conservative ideologue as dust in the breeze) and it worked. shitty thing, but it worked

And just how on earth do you expect workplace safety to happen without regulation and enforcement? people refusing to work unsafe. fyi, I have to wear safety gear I don't need.Or are you of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company school of thought? "terrorize American business"! In the Conservative universe, you're just supposed to terrorize workers and turn a blind eye toward business. crack is whack

From a political ideology that champions the rich and does everything in their power to assure the rich that their marginal tax rate will be lower than that of teachers and firemen and police officers and the receptionist at the front desk we get absolutely no understanding of what a vibrant middle class means to America. Why should we get on board with that? b/c it's complete bullshit. Why should anyone pay more taxes than anyone? and I noted that you had to use a type of tax, and not income tax, since head to head, you'd have to admit you're full of it.

And if marriage equality has nothing to do with freedom, one must wonder what "freedom" means to you and your ilk.
Under Reagan's policies the economy did improve. He spent his way out of recession and it worked, for some. But I'm from the Rust Belt, only 30 miles from the fifty yard line at Heinz Field. I saw the whole of the steel industry from the mills of the Mon Valley all the way down the Ohio past Steubenville fold like a Chinese card table. They packed up the blast furnaces and shipped the lot to Asia. Wealth accumulated in sunnier climes. Precious little trickled on us.

And to debunk your claim of "lie", consider this: when the percentage of wages given the CEO weighed against those in the mean of all salaries was less than 450%, our economy perked right along. But since the obscene disparity of wages, (Wages mind you. Not the bonuses, stock options, insider information and political connections, but the actual wage paid to perform the service of Chief Executive Officer) is measured against other wage earners in the company, is that justified? Could others live with just a little more economic security without disturbing the lifestyle of the 1%?

As for Stop, Question and Frisk I agree that was a shitty thing yet effective. But could you consider the Constitution is as flexible on the 2nd amendment as you are on the fourth?

And I did cite 'marginal tax rate' for a reason. The wealthy are far more capable of securing favorite treatment at banks and investment houses. Hell, they just have to take an elevator ride and they are Boss suit to Boss suit with the people who make it all happen. With such opportunities the wealth do not automatically circulate their wealth, creating jobs in their wake. They squirrel it a way where it compounds sans taxation. And the work that capital could do right here in the land that made it all possible is left undone.

Why should the wealthy pay higher taxes? It gives that money a way to actually "trickle down" rather than languish in an off shore account.

I wish you'd use the safety gear. I'm very familiar with industrial health and safety and I take the issue very seriously. No one should leave work only to go to an Emergency Room or a morgue. We know so much more about mitigating workplace injury than ever before. But even with our knowledge, people flout what we used to call common sense. As employees have responsibilities toward the employer, the employer bears responsibility himself. Insurance costs would skyrocket if there were no standards for industrial health and safety. Tragedies are avoidable.

To let industry self regulate, not only will workers get hurt or die needlessly, international trade could suffer if no insurance policy could be issued to producing companies. Would you sign a multi-million dollar deal with a company that could be wiped out by one serious workplace accident?

I framed that argument to get your attention. Bottom line issues make Conservatives drool where worker safety puts them asleep.

Well strangely we also drive on the right side of the road and don't put lemonade in our beer, so what is your point?

Yeah, but some put clams and tomato juice in their beer... (nasty stuff...)

Whoa. Who the hell does that?

A lot of beer drinkers put tomato juice in their beer, in fact you can buy it already that way but claim juice, that one I never heard of.
Tomato juice beer is called Red Beer, Red Rooster and by some a Bloody Mary and I have heard it call Red Eye.
In England lemonade in a beer is called A shandy. I saw a Miller ad the other day promoting a shandy.

Fiscal conservatism encourages growth so obviously the "conservative" state would fair much better.

But there are many factors to take into consideration here. If the "progressive" (regressive) state had access to large oil pockets then the regressive state would be in a much better position.

So if there were a "Conservative America and a Progressive America" which country would survive? Which would be the most violent? Which would be the most productive?

1)Conservative America
2)Progressive America

Well if one really thought about it, and used the current group of contemporary conservatives as our model, we would still be riding horses, slavery would be legal in a number of Southern States and anarchy, vigilantism and class warfare would be on going.

Mississippi most conservative state. Vermont most liberal.

Where would you rather live?

Mississippi, the women are better looking, weather is better, taxes are lower and you dont have a bunch of stinky hippes everywhere.

women are better looking? citation needed...I demand lots of pics from vermont and Miss.

Weather? Maybe...i have no use for the cold tho...Miss wins on that one.

taxes? eh i would need to see context...School gpa etc.

hippes for rednecks......Tied.

Conservative America would have to hire liberals to run things in their part of the country.

Rod Blagojevich is unavailable at present. Do you have another enlightened leftist who could step in in the mean time?

What's Jessie Jackson Jr. doing these days?

James Traficant is looking to come out of retirement, I hear.

Silliness indeed. I traveled through and spent time in Mississippi maybe a few time less than a thousand. VT is far more preferable.

I don't know about clam juice but tomato juice is not bad after a night out.

They call it Chelada.

Budweiser & Clamato Chelada - Anheuser-Busch - Saint Louis, MO - BeerAdvocate

A Chelada is somewhat different. If you get one at a mexican joint best beware...some of em will burn your lips off.
Clamato and beer is also a great when camping. Think of it as a low class bloody mary without all the hassle, for that morning hangover.

people refusing to work unsafe. fyi, I have to wear safety gear I don't need.
Personal anecdote, even if true, does not constitute disproof of a general proposition.

You need to study some basic logic.
