If statism is progress, why is history full of statism

do you consider yourself a marxist?...in any case would you say your views more closely resemble the American right or the left?
I do. My views are more aligned with the left. I should say that I don't consider the democratic party as a leftist party.
but as a marxist you would much prefer our left to our right?...is that fair to say?
Not necessarily. I agree with Trump on trade.
he'll be so disappointed...I was actually looking for party philosophy/defining beliefs when asking that, not individuals, but you can give me that now if you like...when I ask most marxists this question [there have been quite a few] they seldom pick a side for fear of casting the left in its true light,[ which is why I ask it] the ones that have answered directly have all chosen the left.
Who will be disappointed?
trump, it was tongue-in-cheek

That is a quote from The German Ideology. In it Marx is critical of the idealist followers of Hegel. Marx's own philosophy was rooted in materialism.

The German Ideology

Your interpretation is the same as every other indoctrinated idiot I come across.

I assume by "the American left" you are referring to the democrat party. If we are going to look at the democrat party from a Marxist perspective we would have to call them "vulgar socialists". Redistribution of wealth is not a Marxist principle.

I was trying not to say the democratic party because I am a registered democrat [I vote that way most of the time, 60 maybe even 70% of the time]who still loves what the party used to be...isn't "vulgar socialist" kind of the way china viewed the old soviet union?

I don't know much about Chinese relations with Russia. I do know that vulgar socialism was the phrase Marx used against the German Workers Party's ideas of government redistribution.

You didn't vote for Hillary I assume.

and it never ended well? Wouldnt PROGRESS be learning from our mistakes?
Do the regressives understand, in this country alone, most of what you bitch about came from the GOVERNMENT?
Statism is not progress. It is the opposite of progress. It is regression.

Government is force. It is unjust, expensive, and ineffective. At it's worst, it is highly murderous and evil.

There can be no disputing this. All one has to do is study all of civilized history.

Sadly in the nation founded on limited government and where it's citizens used to understand the horrific nature of government, all is lost. Big unlimited government is here and many citizens are brainwashed to think it is the only way society should be run.

Not a chance, same with trump...I went with Johnson who was probably just as bad as those two but he had one thing going for him the other two did not, he had zero chance of winning [ I gave trump about a 1 in 50 chance] and I did not want to have to go the next 4 years saying, "what did I do"!!!!!!!!...if trump had lost I would have just expected it and moved on, but the joy I have taken from the hillary crowds misery is still with me today...for some context I voted for Obama twice and "W" twice, but regret the second vote for bush as I really wanted kerry and had my hand on the switch for him and literally at the last second decided to change my vote...I think we missed out on a great president with kerry, but nothing has given me more joy than listening to the libs screech now.

I went third party as well, Stein. Democrats are the useful idiots of the bourgeoisie.

and it never ended well? Wouldnt PROGRESS be learning from our mistakes?
Do the regressives understand, in this country alone, most of what you bitch about came from the GOVERNMENT?
Here we go again with the idiotic liberal fascism BS. Breaking for dupes-there is a huge difference between totalitarian state ism and intelligent government with assistance for the unemployed and the unfortunate.

While I see your point, I think mine was made in the OP.

It is lost man.
Perfect example: think about federal aid. Nowhere in the Constitution does it give that permission. Back in the 18th century Savannah Georgia had a big fire. Bigly. They needed help. A bill went to the fourth congress to give them money and they shot it down. It was unconstitutional.
Look at how the general welfare clause gets raped today. Most people accept it.
The bad thing is, if an issue is so important, they can make an amendment. If it's that important, it will get passed. Frankly, I think a federal aid to the states in disaster would easily pass. Granted, if the fed govt wasn't so big, it wouldn't be able to fund it anyways...
It's so fucked up. And only getting worse.

Naw, I meant everyone. You don't think people on the right cloud their statism with lies about progress and what not?
No there isn't. Maybe including the feels there is
