There is a difference between a great nation and the greatest nation on earth.
That would perhaps be China simply because it has been a country for over 4,000 years, not for the treatment of their people.

What made us a great country is that our constitution makes the people in power over their government.
As a new country within 50 years we became a country strong enough to compete with all of the others who had been around for hundreds of years.
We got rid of big government control called a king who over taxed and over regulated us.
