The impetus for Martin Karp considering a primary challenge to U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Weston, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, stems from his opposition to the Iran nuclear deal and her decision to vote for it.
If he runs, Karp said, he wouldn't be a single-issue candidate who talks only about the controversial agreement aimed at preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. As he considers the pros and cons of a candidacy — he's said he hopes to decide by Oct. 1 — he's thinking about other issues.
He's a career educator, who now serves on the Miami-Dade School Board.
