"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

Great quote - I believe it is an updated version of an earlier one...can't quite place it.

Very apt to what is going on in America today...

Not really anything profound there since the masses have fallen for the deceptions of charismatic charlatans time and again throughout recorded history (Hitler, Ceaser, Mussolini, Stalin, FDR, etc.., etc...,). The reasons they fall for it vary but generally speaking usually boil down to Fear, Hope and a willingness to believe falsehoods wrapped up in a pretty package regardless of how incompatible said falsehoods are with reality. ;)

Yes. People let themselves get sucked in by a smooth talker who promised everything to everyone. Hitler did the same in Germany. OL'BO sucked in quite a few. Enough to make him the Prez.

While I didn't vote for the man, I was in despair when the R nominee was a total blank like McCain.

In politics you can't beat something with nothing. I think given the information available (Main stream press needs to be accountable for this) the people made the best choice they could at the time.

They know 0bama well now. I doubt they will make the same mistake twice.

If you just substitute Obama and Bush it works just as well.
Partisanship sucks.

I don't think you're giving President Obama enough credit though, he successfully ran his campaign as pretty much the polar opposite of President Bush then once in office has so far managed to "out Bush" President Bush, something I personally didn't think was even possible a year ago.

In reality the Obama Campaign slogan should have been "Vote for me, I can't possibly be worse than the last guy" and now we know "Yes You Can". :)

Just more empty talk by people who refuse to give the president a chance. You people always give yourselves away. In your case, it was the term, "man like him".

IMO, the GOP should take most of the blame. Most liberal Democrats are very clear where they stand on the issues. If the GOP hadn't strayed from their conservative roots by spending like drunken sailors and starting unnecessary wars, Obama would not have been elected. Without the GOP to counter the Leftists, most people will simply vote for the 'other' candidate. My hope is that Obama's Leftist policies and the GOP screw-ups will renew the need for a viable 3rd party candidate. Now if only that candidate could get some Electoral Votes, we'd be set!

I agree with you but a majority of Americans elected him and if it turns out to be a mistake then America will learn from that. Its a part of the political process.

The unspoken, yet thoroughly understood truth is racism is the fulcrum which supports the lever of attacks on President Obama.

Wrong. The majority of Americans voted for McCain. The majority of Electoral College votes went to Obama.

Er.. Obama won the popular vote by almost 10 million votes

Obama 69,456,897 52.9%
McCain 59,934,814 45.7%

That's untrue. Totally untrue. In fact, so untrue that I can't believe you actually wrote that with a straight face.

President Obama got 52% of the POPULAR VOTE. McCain got 46%

Obama wins 52pc of popular vote, McCain 46pc - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

You must be thinking of Bush v Gore where the presidency was awarded to the person who DIDN'T win the popular vote.

And, no offense, but the O/P is really really silly.

The danger to America is thinking that your "side" is the "pro-America parts of the Country".

WAAAAaa....waaaaa...waaaaaa!

We had control of the nation for eight years and fucked everything up. The American people resoundingly voted us out at all levels of government and now we think the American people must be a bunch of idiots.

With this attitude you guys will never get re-elected

Barrack Obama will be a great president once he realizes the folly of trying to work with Republicans in a bi partisan manner. Republicans are simply too stupid and their leaders are willing to sacrifice the country over their ideology.

Add the natural racism inherent in such a political party and it becomes obvious why the entire world views the Republican Party as a greater danger than al Qaeda.

Bin Laden only caused a small amount of violence and destruction compared to what the Republicans have done invading two countries, destroying our military and leaving the destruction of Katrina intact.

Add in all their domestic debacles, stir with their anti education ignorance and throw in a pinch of fake religious values and there, you have a recipe for disaster. Gee, who couldn't see that coming?

Worse, after years of destroying this country, ruining the world economy and making enemies all over the world, they still believe they have all the answers. Perfect examples of "delusion".

Republicans will read this and say, there goes rdean. Loony and crazy as always. Oh well, just like the radical Muslims, the American Right has "Gawd".

I know. I erred. That's my mistake for the year!

No, you're wrong. The majority of votes for Obama was 66,882,230 and 58,343,671 for McCain. Why do you just throw out a statement like that without any reference?? Were we just supposed to believe you??

Damn, how much should he spend and how many bows before enough is enough? If he was my spouse and this disingenuous I'd be a fool to have not filed for divorce sooner than this!
