Thats an extremely narrow interpretation of comedy. It's been a while since I watched him but I seem to recall a lot of Richard Pryor's humor was at the expense of women. Was that punching up? Bill Cosby's routines were almost exclusively about family life, not exactly challenging the status quo. Seinfeld...was about nothing.
