I have an Idea to stop the Protests and make everyone give a dam about Police Abuse!!

I'd be for it if it were by state/municipality and if the thug community lost state welfare benefits every time some thug caused a problem that we had to pay for the family of a dead officer over, or yea jail time too.

Kinda military though, the whole unit being punished because of the actions of one or two is common place to build unity in basic training. The "stop police militarization" might have a cow.

Are you unaware that when someone kills someone else they serve jail time? And they do not give a settlement from the state?
No, that is not necessarily true. Homicide is not automatically murder. When a thug kills another thug over a dime bag or a pair of Air Jordans, that's murder. When a cop kills a thug who assaults him, that's not - no jail or prison and if justice is served, no compensation to the family that raised a thug.

Police kill people and you hear a collective yawn or shrug from people and others go out and protest beacuse they feel it will hopefully shed light and bring change on the police.

Heres an idea to get everyone to see that police killing people isnt optimal and to stop all the hand wringing and justifications.

Whenever the police settle another police abuse case they should be required to send out letters to every resident of that area. In that letter will include what the police are accused of, what the amount of the settlement is to be paid out to the family and...

How much to make out your check to the police department that shows your portion of that settlement.

Protests would stop cold because everyone would be up in arms when they find out they have to pay $20 or $30 to go to these families and the same people who previously were indifferent would go from a collective yawn to

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!

My Word! Police Brutality must stop! I've spent $30 so far in police settlements!
But since we all pay just not directly it almost feels like you dont.

And the police would face such a backlash from the entire public they would really make the changes they keep saying they will enact.

And then a SECOND letter.....showing them how much they pay into welfare for these criminals...for how much money these criminals steal from local businesses...how much money they spend to house and feed murderers and rapists....how much money is spent on handouts to mothers who have 8 kids by 8 dads who are absent....how much money they spend cleaning graffiti from the city.....

Compare the costs. Its not even close.

Its funny how upset you are about most Americans not caring about the "outrage".

Ok, so now do you see the difference? Thugs serve time...police give settlements

It wont matter when someone is writting that check

Police don't give anything. A judge decides under civil law. Twenty or 30 bucks for a dead thug is well worth it. But poor people and blacks would have to pay too.

Maybe we should wave the "transparency in government" shit and say we need an itemized receipt regarding all our taxes heh

Ok, police dont give it but they do pay it....and so would you.

That would bring a swift end to all that because as soon as someone sees someone being abused they'll see that $30 going right out the window...again

You all are aware this issue crosses color lines? Statistics prove it does. This is something every American should be concerned over

Actually...many cities carry liability insurance...and the insurance company pays it.

But...the costs of police settlements vs costs of damage done by thugs to society....not even close.

And most people know it. THAT is the answer to your question of why most people arent outraged. Unlike you...we understand the thuggery in America's streets is a true threat and the brave efforts of cops to protect us from it is noble...but its often messy work and will have the occasional unfortunate or criminal incident among officers. No different than corrupt military officers here and there. And the system will deal with that.

But overall...we prefer to support the broader effort of law and order.

They'll see a dead thug and be grateful. Who wouldn't?

They'd save money anyway in welfare and incarceration costs, especially with younger thugs, not to mention the cost of crime and the benefits of security.

Could end the protests by not covering them live. Fact that the media is there is creating a lot of the protests since the protestors know the police isn't going to do anything punitive on live tv.
Apparently you missed the beatdown given by San Bernadino Deputies while being filmed by network news. The county just settled with the dude for about $650K--even though they beat his ass like a bongo drum being used by a punk band and it all went out live, even showing him getting kicked right in the nuts!

Of course we prefer law an order. 100%. And the police and military know that they will be held to a higher degree of professionalism.

We can never let the military or police force grow to comfortable with a exempt status. Ever.

There will always be screw ups. However, these screw ups should have full public accountability and if deemed, blatant misconduct punished. They should be handled by a separate entity.

No way should the police or military or federal agency be allowed to police itself in certain areas. No frickin way. You will get, like the FBI stats bear out, a perfect record.
