Great speech on your Independence Day. When he said the U.S soldier told the others, "the Germans have us surrounded again the poor bastards", I had to laugh. That soldier expressed the spirit of General Patton right there.

Men who faced eminent death and didn't run, for all of our sakes. Those American, British and Canadian soldiers never age as far as I am concerned. Keep fighting the good fight folks.

There is a movie, I forgot the title of, that is a story of front line games between the Russians and the Nazis in the middle of ww2. Very interesting, but also shows how much simpler and non intrusive the world was those days.

I've never heard of any truce between Germans and Russians during WW2. The only truce I'm aware of is the truce between the British and the Germans during Christmas 1914.

The Greatest Generation stood tall in the face of Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany. No amount of thanks can be enough.

No, not truce. The movie portrays their lives at the front line tricking and hunting each other, from the German angle. That's what I meant my games.

The greatest generation was not all that great if we consider that their leverage was their pact with the devil called Soviet Union. It is easy to smash up your neighbor's competing shop if you do it with the godfather's goons.

They didn't have much choice. Confronting evil and the survival of civilization demanded moving the moral compass, at least temporarily.

Who's leverage with the Soviet Union? The 19 year old kids who signed up to fight the most fearsome military the world had ever seen? I have no idea what you are talking about.

This is exactly the devil's trick. Now that both sides have moved the moral compass, civilization is dead no matter which one of them loses.

Without the Soviet Union, ww2 would have been another 100 year war. When 19 year olds sign up to 100 year wars they get glory for it. When 19 year olds sign up to globalist socialist wars like ww2 then it doesn't matter what they believe in, I think.

Russia was a necessary evil at the time. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Until the other enemy is dead.

Russia bleed German ground forces and took massive deaths doing so..........Had they not been doing that how would have Normandy worked out when the first day we only put 150k on the beach..........Battles between Germany and Russia had millions in it..........And it was necessary to get rid of Hitler.

Any pact made with the Soviets was made by the political leadership, not those 19 year old boys signing up. Plus, most of those 19 year old boys were drafted and had no choice.

Yes, Russia had ww2, Normandy and all the western fronts were just a side show. And if the enemy of your enemy is your friend, then which one is your friend when two Devils fighting?

....WW2 was the greatest event in human history --beyond any doubt
...the enemy was Germany--not Russia
Russia put more military up against Germany than all the rest combined
learn some history before spewing dumbshit

VERY interesting diagrams! Thank you. They actually prove my point. This thread is about the value of US drafted manpower. Russia assembled the nasty gang. Much bigger than the US. So the US punks smashed up the German lunchbox by simply aligning with the goons of the Russian godfather. Hardly an achievement. At least not in the positive sense.

Sometimes it's good to simply stop typing.

Subject debate of history can have opposing views, in fact the whole human history is of interaction between opposing views.
