Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I'd say Mr King has grounds for a civil rights lawsuit. Where is it written that the government can take away his job for simply expressing an opinion about the language used in modern political discourse?

Don't we hire these people to go to Congress and express their opinions in order to influence votes for or against legislation?

Does this mean Pelosi can remove all committee assignments from Republicans because they disagree with her own idiotic opinions?

how low is the bar when you're supposed to be happy with Republicans for censuring white supremacists?!

Then he's gonna sue the GOP...because THEY stripped him of his Committee seats

Steve King is a turd of the ripest order.

If nothing else comes from this Trump debacle, I hope it's the conscience of the right.

Damn, you fuckers are lost!

I am looking for Progressive Socialists to be punished for their outbursts. Anyway more weapons are purchased every time this happens.
More weapons are purchased every time what happens?
Progressive socialist lies and overreach. Staying under control Liberalism is okay. But it left the train tracks long ago. Grand schemes that cost the working level taxpayer its wealth unless in a privileged job is now the standard agenda. Dodd?Frank and Obamacare are the last two examples. And that does not include the nickel and diming of all the taxes, fees and fines from the federal, state, local, regional, city governments and monopoly and anything else hidden in our bills. Doing this while blaming other people who did them no wrong. Many who are struggling themselves like progressives might not be.

Had the Republicans had the House, how many among us believe that they would have done anything at all to Steve King?

You do realize it was the Democrats that stepped up to the plate and got it to where it is now, right?
Why are black people on average the dumbest race?

With the exceptions of a few here or there.

Do you have any theories?

Just a quick question. How can average have exceptions? Must be a “very unique” average

Yikes!

Another timely example.

Why are you people so afraid all the time?

Limited ability.

The question Republicans would actually ask would be "Punish him for what?"

Except this part right here "White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?”

That's not out of context. That is a dog whistle turned bullhorn.

It is out of context.

He was showing how liberals equate evil to Western civilization. “THAT” in his text was referring to Western civilization, not white nationalism and white supremacy.

The press is being dishonest, and the partisans are filtering it through their ideological prism to hear what they want to hear and reinforce their biases.

He asked how "white supremacists and white nationalist" became offensive language. That wasn't out of context. And when you add that to ALL the other racist things he's said, well, you know the adage about the straw and the camel, right?
It's actually better than that. He equated "white nationalist and white supremacist" to "western civilization." The racist mtfker said exactly what he thinks. LOL

Try reading it like this:

White nationalist. White Supremacist. Western civilization? How did that language become offensive?
When used interchangeably.

Thank you for once again not failing to prove that you are a classless, disgusting moron!

If Republicans were all brilliant and good-looking then perhaps they would have a basis for their racism.
Instead they have that weird accent, they don’t know anything, They think we were shimmered into being from dirt, and they don’t really want to know anything.
In fact, I was watching a show where Harry Connick Junior asked country singer Keith urban, what has 6 teeth and is 20 yards long?
And Keith urban said what has 6 teeth and is 20 yards long and Harry Connick Junior said the front row of the Keith urban concert. And everybody got the joke.

If ANY Democrats were even remotely brilliant or good looking, then perhaps they'd have some basis for their smug superiority complex.
But 99% of them are dumber than a box of shoes, ignorant, full of prejudice, hate, intolerance, and stereotypes, and ugly enough to stop a clock or scare a bullfrog.
Born of bad genes from their mother knocked up at Woodstock by a Mexican, a Black and another, she can't be sure of. Maybe it was a dog.

Having read his statement, I believe him. His explanation is reasonable and I think that the press is taking what he said out of context.

This is his explanation.

It’s like when Obama said “You didn’t build that” and the right-wing press took that out of context and spun it into something different from what he was saying.

This is a very big reason why people don’t trust the press.
‘I don't particularly care if the majority of Americans find the latest comments from US Rep. Steven King, an Iowa Republican, to be racist. I don't care how his comments affect the Republican Party, or who is calling for his resignation, or even if he is eventually forced to resign.

While it is certainly unnerving to see a member of Congress quoted in a news article questioning why the term "white supremacist" is offensive, the truth is King has been making -- and then later "clarifying" -- comments of this nature repeatedly over the years.

Last fall, the Anti-Defamation League asked then-House Speaker Paul Ryan to censure King for doing things such as endorsing foreign politicians linked to neo-Nazi groups. Two years ago, King tweeted his support of Geert Wilders, a Dutch anti-Islam politician, saying Wilders "understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can't restore our civilization with somebody else's babies."

So forgive me if I'm not overly impressed with the "swiftness" in which House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy denied King committee assignments following the congressman's most recent episode, because I'm still wondering why he still had those assignments in the first place.’

I don't care that the GOP has condemned Steve King (Opinion) - CNN

Spot on.

Geer Wilders is hardly a new Nazis. He tells truths about Muslim immigration that' dumbasses like you don't want to admit. You just made it obvious that he's being punished for having views that are political incorrect. It's pure politics. Republicans should be ashamed for caving to this sleazy and blatant attack on the First Amendment.

I think the term he questioned was probably "white nationalist," which is just a sleazy attempt by the left to imply that anyone who is a patriotic American is a racist.
