About the same odds that the current Democrat controlled House would punish a Democrat for doing something similar.

Representative King should have handled this better.

1. Educate himself on why some were offended.
2. Publicly apologize and demonstrate his new understanding.
3. Back words with some type outward act of attrition.

Playing stupid and pointing fingers elsewhere is simply being a liberal.

If Republicans were all brilliant and good-looking then perhaps they would have a basis for their racism.

Instead they have that weird accent, they don’t know anything, They think we were shimmered into being from dirt, and they don’t really want to know anything.

In fact, I was watching a show where Harry Connick Junior asked country singer Keith urban, what has 6 teeth and is 20 yards long?

And Keith urban said what has 6 teeth and is 20 yards long and Harry Connick Junior said the front row of the Keith urban concert. And everybody got the joke.
But when it comes to being competitive to the Asians we are failing. You are in control. You push and educate people to be progressive socialists to grease the wheels for success and Asia, particularly East Asia is becoming the product building spot of the world. Without Americans who love their trucks purchasing American owned models, our auto companies would be in deep trouble. Those Southern State yokels need to wake up and push to build the Costa Rica Canal. Then they can as intellectual as you with all of that free money coming to West Coast ports from Asia coming to massively enhanced Southern Ports. The West Coast is eco friendly and green so they won't mind.

Having read his statement, I believe him. His explanation is reasonable and I think that the press is taking what he said out of context.

This is his explanation.

It’s like when Obama said “You didn’t build that” and the right-wing press took that out of context and spun it into something different from what he was saying.

This is a very big reason why people don’t trust the press.
I already called Kevin McCarthy‘s office And birches him out! How dare republicans stop free speech

Handled what better, his personal belief?

What you SHOULD have said, was that he should not have lied, because that's all he did. Lie about the things he's said and has been saying for years.

I fully support America first, which is a form of nationalism correct? It is a nation for ALL Americans, not just a particular race, sex, creed or color. I do not know what another person's beliefs are. I certainly do not accept on its face what a slanted news sources says it is. What you SHOULD have said is you believe he lied. In large part due to your political and social biases. Thanks for the sermon Rev.. ATL.

Had the Republicans had the House, how many among us believe that they would have done anything at all to Steve King?

You do realize it was the Democrats that stepped up to the plate and got it to where it is now, right?

Name one thing he said, that you would not say about blacks.

"Talk about a manufactured crisis! The same people who love to snicker about Fox News viewers worrying about Sharia law sweeping the country are convinced that mythical "white supremacists" are hiding under every bed.

The whole concept is bogus. In my life, I've encountered a number of white people -- some of them are my best friends. I've never heard any of them suggest that whites should rule over other races. None of them has argued that a substandard white person should get a job over a more competent person just because he's white -- you know, what every other group openly advocates for itself. "

He’s not going to get any awards for being a civil rights leader. But The New York Times did somewhat the same thing today. They had a big piece that said, ‘his long history of racist comments.’ I read every one of them. Some of them weren’t even about race. Some of them were about Islam, Islam is not a race, it’s a faith. Many of them might be considered insensitive, but they weren’t racist. Racism means a very specific thing, it means a belief in the superiority of one race over another. And it is taboo in the United States as well as it should be.

But we need to be careful flinging this term around, because what has happened to this tragically is this great triumph of the civil rights movement making racism indefensible and intolerable has been weaponized. And the term now, the adjective racist is hurled around with abandon, and is the kind of thing that we in the news media need to stay out of the middle of. We shouldn’t be getting involved in this. We shouldn’t be throwing the word racist around with abandon. We should be very careful in how we use it.

What NBC said to do in the first place which was to leave it to others to characterize as racist was the right call. The second call in my opinion was the wrong call. And that New York Times piece was completely bogus. I mean, those comments, look I don’t agree with them and I’m no fan of Steve King. Look, I’m sorry, they did not amount to racism.

Not in a million years

What the OP SHOULD have said is

"I support this racist"

Because that's what he meant

Thank you.

And in the spirit of a FOX News Talking Head "I thank you for your service"

When asked about Trump telling reporters he did not know about King’s remarks, Meeks said, “That’s just ridiculous. Here’s a president that watches television all the time, looks at the news all the time and yesterday he said he didn’t know what was going on. That’s like when he said he didn’t know who David Duke was. He was hesitant in making statements because he doesn’t want to disturb that part of the support that comes from the racist mentality and has the same beliefs and believe the same thing that Steve King said. That’s what he’s had in his campaign and said about Charlottesville—good people on both sides. So it’s a weak argument.”

He continued, “Unfortunately, in the United States of America we have not. All Americas have not all been against racism. And this president has brought it back where it seems to be that it’s okay. We have had individuals who were marching in Charlottesville, clear memories of the Ku Klux Klan and Nazis who did not even feel threatened enough to cover their faces anymore. So racism is still alive and well in the United States of America, and we have a president that seems to help unleash it and get people feeling they can come out of the closet with that kind of racism.”
