How "pitiful" is the Republican Presidential field?

What is so hard for Republicans to say "We ain't got shit" when it comes to potential candidates

This is one of the weakest GOP fields I have seen in my lifetime.

Reminds me of when the Dems ran Mike Dukakis and George McGovern

So far, yes, I'm underwhelmed.

I rag on these guys just to piss them off. But seriously, the quality of candidates this go round are underwhelming. No elder statesman, no young stud, no up and comer.

It's unbelievably pathetic.

The rightwing crop is little better than a bunch of cartoon characters, and the moderate commonsense centrist faction are getting trashed by the rightwing puppetmasters in the media.

Why on earth would it be wise to compromise on measures that will severally damage our nation for years to come?

Because a rightwinger is unelectable.

Let's face it. God Himself could be running and He would still be considered "pitiful"

Maybe you could convince me if you could tell me who you are enthusiastic about and why

It shouldn't be that hard

Actually, it's pretty easy. No one.

Why? Because we are still nearly two years out so I don't really care who is running at this point. And because most people havent even announced they are running. Why would i get excited over people who might not even be in the race?

That said, I'm watching Romney. The man is talented at what he does and he made millions fixing messes precisely like the one the Federal Government's in.

I remember when Good ol' Juan Williams weighed in on the, thus far, concievable field of Repub candidates:

Fox News contributor Juan Williams said Sunday that Sarah Palin "can't stand on the intellectual stage" with President Obama.

Williams, in his role as an analyst on Fox News Sunday, was breaking down the Republican presidential field, which he saw as weak.
"There's nobody out there, except for Sarah Palin, who can absolutely dominate the stage, and she can't stand on the intellectual stage with Obama," Williams said.
44 - Juan Williams: Palin not on same 'intellectual stage' as Obama

So we shouldnt vote for someone who is actually going to try to fix the problems with our nation because they wont get elected? Why bother with an election if we aren't even going to give the nation a choice?

How 'pitiful' is the Republican presidential field? - The Week

According to public opinion polls, the field is currently "quite weak." Only two likely Republican contenders — Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney — have positive favorability ratings. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich have "especially poor" ratings, in the negative double digits. Is the 2012 GOP field, as The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan puts it, irredeemably "pitiful?"

The GOP field is weak: These numbers are "bad news for Republicans," says Jim Lindgren in The Volokh Conspiracy. Some of the GOP contenders could make "better than average presidents," but "I see no one who as yet looks to be a better than average candidate." If this is the best the GOP can muster, "President Obama will be hard to beat."
Why put pitiful in Quotes? Trying to portray a false sense of your objectiveness?

To be fair, President Obama needs to be able to get on that stage before anyone can stand with him.

Where did the "favorable ratings" come from fake right winger? A couple of name recognition push polls or a single C-PAC meeting? The GOP has at least a year to field a candidate and about 21 months until the election. Gov. Christie looks real good if he decides to run.

Could be interesting if he decides to run. Coming from NJ, I think he will wait till 2016. You get one shot at a legitimate run and I think he will bide his time

Republicans in 2016 look promising. Christie, Rubio, Jindal, Brown

Young, dynamic, can appeal to the middle. The current crop......Bland

This is kinda funny.

The fact that obama had done nothing, literally nothing of note. community organizer is something you talk about when you're trying out for a real job, not when you want to be CEO.

And b/c the election is just under 2 years away, "we" got a pitiful field?

awesome

I will fall over laughing if some complete unknown runs with it.

Way way too far out to matter a whit.

However, on a positive note for the Republicans, they had a pitiful, pathetic, lousy, horrible, rotten no good field of presidential candidates in 2000 and 2004 and won anyway.

Plus two more years of Obama cocking up the economy and costing us more big job losses and the GOP can run Audry II to victory if they wanted to.

So you are just in need of attention? Talk about "pitiful".

It's possible that the democrat party is thinking about who to run in two years. Democrats have gone so far out on a limb supporting the completely inept phony and his joke of a VP that reasonable democrats might be thinking about trying to rehibilate their name, which has become synonymous with communism and socialism, by challenging Obama in a primary.

With the possible exception of Sarah Pailin, the WWE has a "stable" of wrestlers that all have more name recognition that the rest of the GOP's current crop of presidential "wannabes!"

One could also argue that many have far more practical, "hands-on" experience in "conflict resolution!"

I must admit that the American family "values" promoted by the WWE have far in common with the Republicans/Tea Party than the Democrats.

I remember before the 1992 race. Bush Sr was popular because of Desert Storm and the early, early Democrat field was not even worthy of mention by most networks because everyone though Bush's second term was a given. And then, along came Clinton and the economy tanked and the rest is history.

Completely inept phony? What is phony about our current President?

All it took was some lip reading and tax raising.
hell, Only the most hard core gopers voted for him

I've noticed a lot of righties conveniently dismiss Obama's time in the state senate as if it were nothing.

He got a LOT of practice making indecisions!
