How many shootings are there?

For the most advanced industrialized country in the world there are way too many. It is the norm now, we expect it and close our eyes to it. That's how many shootings there are.

As usual, I find myself totally at a loss in dealing with a Duddly post. What is it we are supposed to be discussing? Domestic disputes, gun violence, or the fact that he never actually says anything when he posts?

This isn't about the shootings themselves. We all know there are shootings constantly being reported but how many are there really?

Your link is a lie. But thanks for posting it in the Clean debate zone.

By all means, post the "truth" then.

And tia.

The truth is as has been reported that we have on average the same number of mass shootings every year and they have not gone up. Changing the meaning does not support the ignorant claim by your site.

Shootings are going down, but the media doesn't want you to know that.

Shootings were much higher during the Clinton years. I believe double what they are now.

The murder rate in the US is down from it's peak in 1993 when there were about 24,500 murders down to around 14,800 in 2012. If you count the killing of full term babies in the womb the murder rate would be shockingly higher.

Regardless for the most industrialized country 14,800 is like astronomical. Way too much for a so called great country.

'Top 3 White Terrorist Attacks in America this Week'

'That we have enough knowledge of them to speak of white terrorism is not in doubt. But we won’t.'

By Juan Cole

"Our capitalist class may be becoming an absolute danger to ordinary Americans. By promoting a doctrine of absolute right to gun ownership (which rather helps gun manufacturers) and at the same time encouraging people to hate the Federal government and resent paying taxes, they are creating a whole class of alienated far right shooters....The American far Right, with its white supremacism, fascination with guns and explosives, profound hatred for the Federal government, poses the biggest terrorism threat in the country by far."

Nothing political about keeping count and if there's one thing we're good at, its counting.

And, my question stands - is there a magic number of dead kids that will make their deaths important enough to try to stop?

Another thing we hear is that 'murders are down'.

Honestly, I don't think that fact matters much to the families of those who are gunned down.

The only thing that matters is whether or not the good guy's are winning against the bad guy's in life, and this when many of the shootings across America do occur. Now tell us the stats on the good guy's verses the bad guy's these days, and how those stats have changed over the years if the bad guy's are now winning over on the good guy's these days.

Now why they (the bad guy's) are winning these days, instead of the good guy's is a huge mystery anymore to many, but then again it's not a mystery at all really. What's changed over the years in the cultures, and why have we now bread a culture that is more docile these days about it all, and this especially so when it comes to tollerating heinus crimes, criminals, and/or so on and so fourth ? This nation tolerates stuff far more than it did way back in the past but why ? The answes are as clear as day, but no one is allowed to oppose these things that are happening to the many cultures now, and that are directly affected by it all in such a negative way, and with such a negative impact for so many afterwards. Most think that it's mainly because of a federal government where it has since gone mad in many ways they feel, and it's also due to a hollywood that is fueling this stuff worse than anything else these days. All have been taken advantage of in the power vaccum's that has been created over time in it all. Hey what was the words by Raulm Emanual, "Never let a good crisis go to waste" ?

We see how it has gone, and many see where it is going, so why does everyone continue to play dumb about it all or why are they offering up their children for the sacrifice that is found in it all now? This is what keeps me scratching my head these days.

The only thing that matters is whether or not the good guy's are winning against the bad guy's ...

Again, I must point out that's just not very is important to those left behind.

Doesn't anyone FEEL anything anymore?

The most notorious school shooting in US history is a relatively hidden incident for some reason. Maybe the media doesn't want to focus on the school's criminal negligence or the local police department's incompetence or the Commonwealth of Va's failure to enforce the law. The monster who killed 30 people at Va. Tech Blacksburg was a product of the liberal establishment. The faculty feared him and co-eds were victimized by his stalking. Instead of being arrested by the local police on credible charges of stalking the future shooter was ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling which wasn't monitored by anyone. While the Va. name check for purchasing a firearm includes psychiatric counseling the psychiatric counseling didn't show up because democrats thought the privacy of psychiatric patients trumped the law on the books and the monster was allowed to purchase a firearm even though he was freaking nuts. The incompetent local police were interviewing witnesses and assuming the first murder was a case of domestic violence while the monster was murdering students and faculty across campus and nobody ever shut the campus down.

Of course -- we FEEL grief and anger. But that's gonna fix stuff.
Largest issue is that the science of Psychology aint good enough at the moment
to identify and treat and isolate these timebombs. In fact -- it sucks because we
cannot trust individual judgements affecting the civil liberties of people who are
unstable. There needs to be QUANTITATIVE and scientific assessment of the danger.

Santa Barbara shooter was in counseling from the AGE OF EIGHT.. ONE definition of
public danger is if you've been in counseling SINCE THE AGE OF EIGHT.. YA THINK?

All that and the general coarsening of society.. The vulgararity, the sleasy easy porn, the violence themes of games and movies and the ridicule of people who get dressed early on Sunday and FORCE themselves to listen to inspiration to do good. All of that plays a role as well..

AND -- the press coverage.. MANY TOP anchors are REFUSING to name the shooters or show pictures of the creeps. Might not be a bad idea..

Wring your hands? redefine statistics? Or attempt to figure out what can be fixed?
CERTAINLY if there was a PROVEN measurement of sociopathic danger -- these people would have restricted access to weapons.. Because I KNOW that's why you posted this thread.. Sadly...
