No, she was specifically talking about WWII Europe, she just kept insisting that The Third Reich was a country. I really couldn't understand her refusal to back down.
How was the Third Reich not a country?

Really More Unions and higher tax rate is what made America better?
Wouldn't the 1920's contradict that? Oh, and the 1930's-1940's???
That has less to do with anything that the morons who rallied to capitalism and 18h-century British Free Trade.
We need to go back to rejecting capitalism and embracing Social Democracy.
I'd certainly nationalize the oil industry. Here where I live the utilities are regulated by the state and as a result our energy costs are pretty reasonable. I reject the notion that it is okay for an oil company to make a $3B profit in one year as Americans struggle to afford a tank of gas.
There is a fine line between capitalism and socialism that must be met in a country as big as our in order to have a healthy economy.

I'd like to see some serious discussion here. Let's not think through a partisan lens. Let's pretend there are no such thing as Democrats or Republicans. Let's pretend there is no such thing as Liberal or Conservative (or libertarian) or anything else you might think up.
As human beings, how do we fix the problems our nation faces?
First, I think we need to determine what the main problems are. Tell me what you think our biggest problems are. And are they symptoms of something else or the source of other problems?
Second, should we solve them through government or by acting as individuals?
Third, Tell us some of the ideas that we can impliment in our own lives to fix the problems our nations faces.
Well we certainly have learned how not to. That is, don't Elect a Radically Liberal President, and give him control of Both Houses of Congress.
Back to the drawing board we go.
As far as what our Biggest problem is. That is simple, and anyone who does not agree simply does not get it. The biggest problem is Debt. Not just the 14 Trillion National Debt either, SS and Medicare Need to be fixed so they are both viable, and sustainable. We must find a way to balance the budget and produce a surplus because we must pay down some of the Over all Debt. The Interest alone is killing us. Last time I heard it was around .5 Trillion a year. If you start looking at our Over all Future Debt Obligations when you combine all Federal and State programs, You come up with unthinkable numbers. Something like 110 Trillion dollars in Future Unfunded Debt Obligations.
None of our other problems even come close, and none of them will matter if we do not correct this problem.
War: A million broken windows1950s: higher marginal tax rates, more unions, more prosperous America
care to try again?
Unfortunately we can't bomb Europe and Japan into the stone age as we did during WW II.
Yes, because things were so much better during the industrial revolution before the unions got us all living wages and covers for the gears.Really More Unions and higher tax rate is what made America better?

The entire history of unionism contradicts it.
War: A million broken windows
I thought you people always said government spending/stimulus can't fix the economy. Make up your fucking minds.
The USA was the only nation in the world that could supply the manufactured products the rest of the world craved.

And they bought it with what wealth?
You think we made a profit when we rebuilt Europe?
America thrived after the war because of increased demand and increased potential for production of consumer goods.
