He was detained as a witness and released because there was insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime. This is NOT unusual. Sometimes, new evidence changes things and sometimes it doesn't. If he was a flight risk or unknown to police, he might have been treated differently.

Would you also demand the arrest of a black man who was known to police as involved with neighborhood watch because he shot someone and claimed self defense without evidence to the contrary?
