It somehow wasn’t front-page news that committed believers in man-made global warming recently admitted there’s been no surface global warming for well over a decade and maybe none for decades more. Nor did we see warmists conceding that their explanation is essentially a confession that the previous warming may not have been man-made at all.

Science has been hard on you Right Wingers. Science tells us that yes, indeed, we are capable of adversely effecting the atmosphere. Science tells us that the Genesis myth so many Right Wingers are trying to shoe horn into school science curriculums is indeed a myth. Science tells us that hazardous materials were incorporated into building materials and we need to clean that mess up.

So, the de facto response from Conservatives has been to deny, deflect, dismiss and disdain science in most of its forms.

And yet the fossil fuel industries admit that climate change is true, don't they, bauble?

Do they?

BP cites the IPCC that global warming is happening, but then the IPCC is on record saying that the temperatures hasn't risen on over a decade.

Chevron says: “we recognize and share the concerns of governments and the public about climate change. There is a widespread view that the increase in atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHGs) is a contributor to climate change, with adverse effects on the environment.”.

Hardly an indication that they actually believe the hype, they simply see the concerns.

Oil companies want to be on both sides of the issue, they don't want to seem uncaring about the environment yet they want to sell more petroleum.

The climate has gone through many extremes long before man was ever involved. The 70's all the scientist were predicting another ice age, but it never happened. Now they're saying that we are burning up while we see the Antarctic sea ice expand to a record high level.

A leaked report to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) seen by the Mail on Sunday, has led some scientists to claim that the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century.

If correct, it would contradict computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming. The news comes several years after predictions that the arctic would be ice-free by 2013.

A group of 15 scientists and meteorologists have put forward a scathing rebuttal to the Obama administration’s recent climate report which said the U.S. is already being harmed by global warming.

Scientists skeptical that mankind is causing the Earth’s climate to change say that such claims are based on false theories and flawed models. The White House report is a “masterpiece of marketing” that is trying to scare people into action, scientists said.
“As independent scientists, we know that apparent evidence of ‘Climate Change,’ however scary, is not proof of anything,” wrote the 15 scientists and meteorologists,including Dr. Don Easterbrook of Western Washington University and Dr. George Wolff, who formerly chaired the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee.
“Science derives its objectivity from robust logic and honest evidence repeatedly tested by all knowledgeable scientists, not just those paid to support the administration’s version of ‘Global Warming,’ ‘Climate Change,’ ‘Climate Disruption,’ or whatever their marketing specialists call it today,” they continued.
The White House’s “National Climate Assessment” (NCA), released last week, claimed that the U.S. was already being affected by global warming though warmer temperatures and increasing extreme weather events.
But the 15 skeptical scientists said the White House is trying to lay the blame for global warming at the feet of the fossil fuels industry when there is little evidence to back up that claim. The Earth’s climate is very cyclical and has gone through many changes in the past, the scientists said, without humans emitting carbon dioxide.

I came into this issue as a neutral. I don't see it as being political at all. I read the science, I listened to scientists. And that's still my position.

You have to use a little common sense here, Star. If there are 60 scientific organisations in the world and not one of them is in your corner, it's time to throw in the towel and accept that maybe they know something you don't. Just like the oil industry did 20 years or so ago.
