Former U.S. officials say CIA considers Israel to be Mideast's biggest spy threat

Bush.

The CIA considers Israel its No. 1 counterintelligence threat in the agency's Near East Division, the group that oversees spying across the Middle East, according to current and former officials. Counterintelligence is the art of protecting national secrets from spies. This means the CIA believes that U.S. national secrets are safer from other Middle Eastern governments than from Israel.

..... Israel is not America's closest ally, at least when it comes to whom Washington trusts with the most sensitive national security information. That distinction belongs to a group of nations known informally as the "Five Eyes." Under that umbrella, the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand agree to share intelligence and not to spy on one another. Often, U.S. intelligence officers work directly alongside counterparts from these countries to handle highly classified information not shared with anyone else.

Israel is part of by a second-tier relationship known by another informal name, "Friends on Friends." It comes from the phrase "Friends don't spy on friends," and the arrangement dates back decades. But Israel's foreign intelligence service, the Mossad, and its FBI equivalent, the Shin Bet, both considered among the best in the world, have been suspected of recruiting U.S. officials and trying to steal American secrets.

- Israelis has admitted that Pollard was their spy and have bbeen trying to have his sentence commuted for years

Ben-Ami Kadish - former Army mechanical engineer who pleaded guilty in 2008 to passing classified secrets to the Israelis
- had same Israeli case officer as Pollard

American - giving classified information to an Israeli diplomat and two pro-Israel lobbyists.
- sentenced to more than 12 years in prison

With all due respect, what makes "PoliticalChic" think that America and Israel trust each other?

Because we cannot provide the answer as to why God allows suffering, you, not knowing where you came from, have determined no other evidence for God and His Word makes any difference to His reality or importance. That is quite a demand.

I think it's a pretty reasonable demand. I mean, shit, millions of children starve to death in Poor Catholic countries every day (ever notice when a country is predominately Catholic, it is almost always a complete shithole? I have.) But God can totally take time out of his busy schedule to make sure Tebow wins a football game. Unless he doesn't.

It seems to me you clowns want to give your Sky Pixie credit for anything good that happens to you, but want to exempt him from responsibility from anything bad that happens.

And the child mollestation is not evidence for no God, it is evidence for the evil one in this world. And, again, we cannot tell you why God allows the devil but it does not stop our greater understandings of the Creator and acting upon them. Life is temporary. Heaven is forever.

The devil has little to do with child-molesting priests. The proximate cause is the Catholic Church's policies of exlcuding healthy heterosexual men from the clergy. I mean shit "Help Wanted. Must have no sexual interest in adult women and be willing to spend lots of unsupervised time with children". How do you NOT get Pedophiles with job requirements like that? They did just about everything short of advertising on NAMBLA's website.

No sane person would let children be molested in his name. but your God did. And his Church hid these people for decades. A conspiracy to buy off witnesses and hide the offenders that went all the way up to the current Pope.

As to the pope's infallibility, I dare say it has only been invoked in Church history four or five times. You need to understand its meaning. Who was it that deemed the Bible the inspired Word of God? The same fallible men who put forth other divine teachings for the edification of man including papal infallibility. If God is real, none of this is a problem.

Actually, it has always been an undercurrent, but it got put into dogma in the First Vatican Council because the Pope at that time was a complete egomaniac. And he needed a hug after the Kingdom of Italy reclaimed the Papal States.

Good points. Although to be fair, Pollard's sentence was excessive. Other Americans who were caught spying for allied countries (and yes, all of our allies spy on us, and we spy on them) were usually released after a few years. What he passed along to Israel was intelligence on Saddam Hussein that the US had promised to share with Israel and wasn't.

His sentence is more a product of Cap Weinberger's vindictiveness than any real harm done.
