Half the democratic party lies to the other half

I remember years ago when Bill Clinton called for the enforcement of immigration laws and even hired more ICE agents to do so but now that Trump is doing that the same party that elected him for another term in 1996 is not supporting that. The open border crowd went along with it because it got Bill Clinton re-elected. Democrats that thought that immigration laws should be enforced also voted for him for the same reason. Why would they pretend to go along with that and tell their fellow democrats that they support enforcing immigration laws when they hoped that they wouldn't be enforced sufficiently to stop the wave of illegal aliens from entering our country? It just seems like one half lies to the other half of the democratic party.
