'Gun Culture' - What About the 'Fatherless Culture'? by The Sage L.Elder

Elder is spot on.

Gang/Gun violence committed by boys is a symptom of a broken culture. A major aspect of our broken culture is the destruction of the nuclear family in favor of dependency upon the state.

Oh come LGS! There is nothing better than a fatherless home! It means more reliance on government. More socialism. More spread-the-wealth. Just what America needs!

Andrew Wilkow has a GREAT saying: There is nothing liberals love more than the womb of a liberal woman. It attracts government funds to maintain it, government funds for an abortion, or government funds to support what ever comes out of it.

It's a vicious cycle, put in place by the Great Society programs.

We haven't made a dent in poverty. But we sure have increased the number of illegitimate poor kids, especially black ones. Such kids are far more at risk to have poor, chaotic lives than ones raised in a traditional, nuclear family.

America is very different than the one Larry grew up in. Murder, rape, crime in general are at 25 year lows.

I'd be interested to see what the precent is of children who don't have active fathers now vs 30 years ago. While marriage is on the decline, I don't agree that that equals the absence of fathers. Although I 100% agree that one of the keys to getting out of poverty is having a 2 parent household.

I dunno, around here there are a lot of girls/women with kids who don't have the baby's father around... and this is the Bible Belt, White America (REPUBLICAN America, btw :p ). I haven't seen a black person here in about three months. Considering the KKK has a semi-active presence here (either that or it's just rednecks wearing hoods and shit), they might've killed him.

Anyway, back to the OP... I don't know if it's a "fatherless" culture, per se. I think it has more to do with whether or not that fatherless home is responsible enough to raise a child on their own. Single-parent households have been around for a long time, and the only reason it's more common now is because there are more people now. Furthermore, people are having children when they're not ready for it - and I don't just mean the "accidents".
