Markets are the creation of government.
We have a progressive tax, correct? The rich pay more and the poor pay less? So we are already a socialist society? Not exactly you say?
Exactly.
And there are millions of us who are against this practice. The rich pay more taxes to programs that they don't even need/use, so that the poor who pay few or no taxes can take advantage of them. This country is in the habit of penalizing the rich for being successful and crying for the poor who never tried to succeed. Instead, we should be encouraging the poor to do better and thanking the rich for not being burdens on society.
The rich drive their limos on the same roads as the buses the poor ride on. The roads are built using.......?
My nephew is a great example of government doing good. All through his school years his great teachers helped him to succeed and with the help of college aid he got through school with flying colors, went into the army for four years as an officer and is now one of the most important people in an engineering firm. He is a prime example of government doing well.
My grandmother two years ago had her hip replaced and is doing real well, thanks to medicare which took care of her, thank God! What would we have done had the government not been there to care for her in that tragic moment of need?
I have at least six family members enjoying a comfortable retirement on social security
It's six degrees below zero here today and I know there are people across America staying warm right now as I write this because government is helping them with their heating bills. Think of the misery those people would be in right now if they didn't get that help. The evil people out there that would heartlessly cut off the funding should be dragged out in the snow, stripped bare and left to die. They are just scum.
Did everyone see those rescue crews yesrterday save those people on that plane in the Hudson? Government workers they were.
Government just works
That's right. They get it both ways. Socialize the losses and privatize the profits.
You guys called Obama a socialist when you all knew that our system is part socialism and part capitalism.
We have a progressive tax, correct? The rich pay more and the poor pay less? So we are already a socialist society? Not exactly you say?
Exactly.
So how do you know a really free market will work? Aren't you worried it won't? When has it ever been tried before in history?

GAS taxes. Our Highways were built using a TAX on FUEL. Currently the Government raids that system to, under the Democrats in 1993 they took as much as 50 percent.
The Federal Government taxes fuel supposedly for the sole purpose of roads bridges and highways and their maintenance. As do the States.
Yeah... NOBODY every worked their way to success
You fucking moron
I can only laugh at the strigent ideologies of so many. Either government should be cut to the absolute core, or government is the answer for everything. Yes, government does work in many situations to the benefit of all people. However, too many times, the abuse that takes place within government is beyond belief.
Most programs could have their funding cut 25% and still be extremely effective. At the same time, some should just be cut all together. Why do we need a Department of Education? We don't trust the states to educate their own? Programs like SS and Medicare are necessary. Unfortunately, these programs have been abused to the full extent possible. Why have we allowed the government to use SS and Medicare funds to fund the general budget for the last 25+ years? Why have we left the age to collect those benefits the same as when the average lifespan was eight years shorter than it is now?
Government will only work as efficiently as voters demand. So long as we continue to argue one ideology over another as being the final solution, we will continue to feed the pig.
The rich don't use Medicaid, welfare, or public housing. Only people who don't work use those programs. And if they don't work, they don't pay taxes. So who pays for those programs? The people who work. Who benefit from them? The people who don't work. You find that fair? Because I certainly don't.
Yup, because everyone that works can afford diabetes treatment, transplants and hip replacements

I wish I could interview your family and friends to find out where, when and from who you got your handouts/hand up from. We all got them. Just some of us forget who helped us along the way. May not even have been a government program. It may have been a friend or neighbor. Well not all of us have friends and neighbors like that. Bush is the best example. If not for all the breaks he got in life, he'd be a drunken failure. So for people who don't have powerful friends and family like that, we have government. How about any christian charities? Any of them help you? Well not everyone gets help from their church either. And again, that's where government comes in.
Ok, how about the GI bill? Government program that works, right? Why should my tax dollars pay for your college? People who signed up did so knowing what the wages were. So why the fuck did we just pass a bill last year that gave veterans even more than what they were already getting? I'll tell you why. Because it was the right thing to do. So quit being a cheap fuck. Gotta spend money to make money.
Yeah OJ public ed works really well 50% + drop out rate in New York worst performance on test of any graduating highschool students in the developed world. It's doing wonderfully.
No one is arguing we should end public schools just that it should be the property of the federal government under whose mismanagement it has gotten worse very nearly every year.
Breaks??? Never took welfare, or a grant, or any entitlement... worked ungodly hours, trained on my own time, enlisted and served....
That is not getting breaks from someone else... that is doing something about your situation
And if I ever need help... I'll help myself.... and I'll do whatever I have to do... I don't take handouts
And don't give me that bullshit that 'everybody can't do it'.... it's libs like yourself who think that people are incapable without big mommy government.. you love to have them reliant on mommy government to keep them loyal to those giving the handout and punishing success
And the funny thing is we don't want to bring down the government or get rid of it... just bring it back to what it is supposed to be, instead of trying to morph it into a nanny state provider
Competent government is not government so big and in control of every aspect of your personal life....
If everyone that didn't work didn't suck the system dry, those that do work would pay fewer taxes and be able to better afford the things you mentioned.
