I've heard and read all the hate flowing out of the right wing this week. How they think they "own" govt workers. How they are sick of the "takers" and "makers" situation. How one right winger on here said he would "never thank a government" workers (guess including the military) because he pays their salary.

Hmmmm. Got me thinking....

If they work for us, the taxpayer, and THEY also pay their taxes, wouldn't that make them "self employed"?

In fact, not only do they pay their share of taxes into our society's fiscal pot, but they also pay extra out of their check into that pot...in the form of insurance and retirement contributions that come out of their checks to go into the government's pot. So, really, govt employees send more of their paycheck back to the government than most others.

And since they pay those taxes we all pay, plus more, and govt workers work for the taxpayers, Id assume that its safe to view government employees who are also taxpayers as the ultimate "self employed" individuals.:D

And...thinking of all the military folks, and cops and firemen who, due to lack of funding and red tape, have to buy some of their own equipment...that adds even another element of them paying more money into the govt's operating pot.

The true self-employed in America: Govt workers!
