GOP rep: ‘Nobody dies because they don’t have access to healthcare’

People have been dying for lack of healthcare for decades.............so the people just let him know to knock off the BS............

The problem with our Healthcare laws are the problems of a country divided. Two sides refusing to negotiate with each other in a give an take process to come up with the best possible law that both sides can live with..............

Instead.........it's get on the back of the bus.........our way or the highway.......

Now.........pretty much the same thing to get it passed........

Tommorrow other side gets power they repeat the process.....

Main problem...............Having dumb asses from both parties rule the dang Nation.
It is now the Republican's chance to fuck up the healthcare system and they have made a good start. After a few years of the American Healthcare Act coupled with the remains of Obamacare, the public is going to come to the inevitable conclusion that building a healthcare system around private insurance companies is not the answer.

The purpose of health insurance is to provide protection against a possible eventuality. However, medical care is no longer a possible eventuality. It is a certainty that is needed from the time you are born to time you die. Unlike life insurance or property insurance, it carries unlimited risks and limited premiums.

Private insurance has become not just unnecessary but a costly way of paying for medical care. Government today pays 2/3 of the cost of our healthcare. That figure will rise to 3/4 by by 2050. Using insurance companies as a middleman is both inefficient and costly and it does not serve any real useful purpose. Although single payer is one solution it is not the only solution.

The GOP votes on revoking Obamacare is another step toward Medicare For All, although they don't see it yet.

Thankfully he was jeered by constituents for saying it.

GOP rep: ‘Nobody dies because they don’t have access to healthcare’

Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) drew intense jeers at a town hall Friday when he defended the GOP’s ObamaCare repeal plan by claiming nobody dies due to lack of access to health care.

One day after the House passed the American Health Care Act, Labrador faced off with constituents at a town hall at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, according to the Idaho Statesman.

There are veterans families who would like to have a word with this GOP bugtwit.

Another lie from the reprehensible right.

“Nearly 45,000 annual deaths are associated with lack of health insurance, according to a new study published online today by the American Journal of Public Health. That figure is about two and a half times higher than an estimate from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2002.

The study, conducted at Harvard Medical School and Cambridge Health Alliance, found that uninsured, working-age Americans have a 40 percent higher risk of death than their privately insured counterparts, up from a 25 percent excess death rate found in 1993.”

New study finds 45,000 deaths annually linked to lack of health coverage
Maybe they are better off without healthcare.

Johns Hopkins study suggests medical errors are third-leading cause of death in U.S.

250,000 in 2013 (in the USA I assume)
What do you consider medical errors? When we talk about medical errors, most people think of bad doctors who misdiagnosis serious problems, inattentive nurses giving the wrong medication, and doctors cutting out the wrong organ. Although errors like these certainly occur, they are not common medical errors resulting in death. The most serious problems are systemic problems, including poorly coordinated care, fragmented insurance networks, the absence or under use of safety nets, and other protocols, in addition to unwarranted variation in physician practice patterns that lack accountability. What they are calling medical errors in this study are in reality, healthcare system errors that go well beyond the doctors office or the hospital room. They are are also a major factor in the high cost of healthcare.

Yep.
Another failed healthcare law focusing on private insurance will end this crap.

I thought we had a law that says we can get treatment at an ER without having insurance. So, nobody is dying for lack of insurance unless an ER turned them away and for that there needs to be an investigation, criminal charges, and a lawsuit.
People do get turned away at ERs all the time.
Some fucking poser shows up claiming to be having a heart attack so he/she can get a bed and a few meals before being told to piss off happens all the time.

It's pretty hard to get turned away from an ER or admitted to the hospital. The reason is you have to be evaluated to determine what the problem is. Before that happens, you will probably get treatments for symptoms, like nausea, dehydration, etc. Then you will have blood draws, EKG, etc. so the doctor can get a diagnosis. By then the cost is already a couple thousand dollars. If you don't have insurance or credit card, then you will get to meet with a financial consultant to determine how your bill will be paid. Often this ends up in an application to Medicaid. The ER doctor will then make a decision of whether you should be admitted to the hospital or just sent home with a prescription. No ER is going to turn patients away without an evaluation. If they do, they will end up with some huge law suits. If the ER doctor decides to admit you, and there is no immediate treatment you may well spend hours on a gurney waiting for a room.

Going to the ER in most cities, means hours of waiting, often a number of tests that you would you rather not be subjected to and then there is no guarantee that you will be admitted. If you are admitted, there will be more treatments and test, interruptions in middle of the night, and rather crappy food served at odd times. Chances are you will be very happy to get released and certainly will not want to return anytime in near future. Hospitals are good places for very sick people and terrible places for healthy people.
