Well if that's the case then the OP's whole premise...that the GOP are racists because they voted down one bill that provided additional aid to urban children and voted for a bill that provided aid to rural children...is complete horseshit!

A better analysis would be how much aid was already available to urban kids and compare that to aid that was available to rural kids. My guess is that there are far more dollars being spent in cities than are being spent out in the country. It's the old "out of sight...out of mind" thing.

I'm also bothered by the inherently racist attitude that because a child in Appalachia is white...that he or she is any less hungry than a black child in a city. The fact is...use of SNAP by poor whites in Appalachia has lagged so far behind SNAP use elsewhere that the Federal Government has been trying everything they can think of to get them to take handouts. They found that they could get poor whites in Appalachia to accept seeds to plant and grow that wouldn't accept free food from a store.

So chin up, progressives! Perhaps if you can get proud Appalachians to take free school lunches for their kids...you can get them to eventually use SNAP cards and collect welfare. Once you've turned them into lazy pieces of shit I'm sure they'll be more than happy to vote Democratic from there on out!
