GOP Aiming to Cut $4 Trillion

Once again this is a Democracy and a republic is a type of democracy.

Its the definition of the words.

How do you think the American people would vote on ending medicare?

how is this different from any of their other "stiick it to the people who need it most" proposals? they are too busy redistributing wealth away from the middle class to the top 1% to have the discussions that REALLY need to be had.
Um....
Arent you one of the people telling us taxes have to raised on the rich because the middle class have nothing to tax? How then can you take from those that have nothing?

The American people dont agree with this plan.

This is still a democracy

Moron, the plan hit the airwaves over the weekend.

"The American people" are smarter than you are and are looking for more details before saying weather they fully support of don't want it.

We are still a democracy? Tell that to the fleebagger punks that ran instead of voted.

You are a liar. It's a Republic

Republicans want to kill grandma

The Democrats are the 'Party of No' at this point. They haven't been helpful at all. At least the Republicans are trying to fix things. I'm willing to give them credit for this. So WTG Republicans.

It's a start. I read an opinion piece a couple of days ago with a great idea:

Take spending as of 2000 (the last Clinton budget), adjust it for inflation - and set that as the budgetary level. There has been enormous scope creep regarding the role of government - it's time to carve it back to basics.

I can tell you two things that Clinton's budget didn't have to carry.

IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

What's our budget look like without those costs?

Military spending outlays have increased, but not any more so than discretionary spending and entitlements.

The silent killer in the budget is interest on the debt. We are at historically very (artificially) low interest rates. At some point, the inflationary impacts of QE are going to result in inevitable interest rate increases. Watch out for $1T per year interest payments, which will dwarf total national defense outlays.

Try and pass it in this democracy.

see what happens

It will pass the House but the sissy dims in the Senate won't have the stones to put it up for a vote.

The dems want to destroy America by killing it with debt.

Why do you support destroying America?

perhaps if you stopped calling people who disagree with you "dims", you might be able to have a discussion on the issues.

the question could be asked, "why do you want to turn this country into a banana republic"?

"A Massachusetts Republican, on Thursday denounced GOP suggestions to cut social and cultural programs as “irresponsible,” In a Thursday floor speech and in a letter to Senate leaders, Brown said that while cuts “reducing and eliminating needless spending and programs are appropriate … a wholesale reduction in spending, without considering economic, cultural, and social impacts is simply irresponsible."

- Scott Brown

Gotta cut something. Or raise taxes. By a lot, a whole lot. Pick one or the other. Or both. But America is living in a surreal world right now, racking up an enormous amount of debt while covering its eyes and shutting its hears trying to ignore the ramifications of its reckless ways.

We've got to have an adult conversation about taxes and spending. This is part of that conversation.

The real problem is every time the Democrats raise taxes they INCREASE spending along with it. They think money grows on trees.

Pretty much true and accurate. The part you forgot is that every time the Republicans CUT taxes, they INCREASE spending along with it.

Bottom line is that we need spending cuts. The problem is nobody wants to seriously discuss where those cuts come from, and they have to come from Medicare, Medicaid, SS, and the Military. On top of that, there is a definite need for some tax increases.

is that a real question?
