Well, the last Uncle I had that had served in combat in WW2 is gone. He was 91 or 92, so it was not unexpected. But it serves to remind we who are their children and relatives what kind of hell they endured for this nation. He never talked of what he did, other than to say that he prayed to the Lord to let him survive, and promised within his soul to be a minister if he made it home. He did, and was for many decades. He went in on one of the first waves in Okinowa. And fought the whole campaign. Now he and the rest are gone, memories of men that served beyond that which most of us can imagine.
