He was the one that broke the log jam in the meeting with the President.

Progress, but still no deal, as shutdown enters Day 11 - CNN.com

CNN Chief National Correspondent John King told CNN's "New Day" on Friday that Ryan "said something to the effect of, 'Look, we know you don't like our position, we know you probably don't respect our position, but we're the Republican majority.' "

"You're stuck with us for a while, at least through the next election season, so we need to learn to have a conversation with each other," King paraphrased Ryan as saying.

"And at that point, both Democrats and Republicans say, the tone of the meeting changed," King added. "The president said, 'Listen, I'm not going to negotiate with you until you reopen the government, but go to your members, find out what you need to do to get that part done and let's try to make some progress.'"

I just hope the GOP will take advantage of the moment and move this forward. Someone needs to repair the mess that Ted Cruz began.

Apparently Senator Ted Cruz--easily dubbed, "Tailgunner Ted," who even looks a little bit like Senator Joe McCarthy--is even disliked by Tea Party people.

His poll numbers sinking, Cruz ramps up rhetoric - First Read

Senator McCarthy famously used to have trouble keeping track of the number of Communists he was tracking. Senator Cruz is famously now having trouble keeping track of just which party is getting blamed for the current crisis. Mostly, the Communists are all now in China, so it isn't them. Obama is apparently planting commentators in crowds attending Ted Cruz addesses, so apparently it isn't him. Senator Reid is busy doing Senate Leadership things. Nancy Pelosi is busy in the House, doing House Leadership things.

That doesn't leave too many political parties left--Except maybe the one that Governor Christie is in--So Likely Senator Ted thinks it's the Democrats!

Governor Christie does get a lot of appearance-funny-looking jokes. Time now for Ted.

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(NRA still playing William Tell on people--hoping to shoot fruity things from hair of little kids.)

If Ryan can moderate his privitization of middle class entitlement positions, imo he's a real theat to Hillary.

Agreed...I don't agree with his stance on many issues but the guy is a smart cookie and I do think that on many issues he has the best interest of the nation at heart. This could really help his political aspirations...IMHO

Cruz is the only one with nads.

Cruz, although a true conservative and in line with way thinking, overplayed his cards and then disappeared.

If he had nads, he would have stayed in the forefront and taken the heat.

Hard to imagine Ryan is the only adult in the room

Add him to the list of RINOs whose 2016 chances went down the toilet

But THAT's what makes him different. He was spinning the TP line of govts too big before the TP. It's gonna be hard to RINO him. If he makes a deal he can make the case he got the best they could get, and w/o the deal they get nothing.

If he hugs the President or even gives him a hardly hand shake the Teatards are going to put him on the RINO list....
