A gigantic coronal hole has opened in the sun’s atmosphere just behind sunspot AR2670. And it is turning toward Earth… Weak geomagnetic storms should occur on Earth during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower on August 12th. Imagine a disintegrating fireball in a green glow.

At the small end of the spectrum we have Ozone Holes, which are not really holes at all, but areas generally over the poles about the size of Antarctica that have a thinner than normal layer of Ozone.

Then we have the Coronal holes of the Sun, that are pretty big, much larger than Earth, but are something we have existed with for millions and billions of Years.

Then we have at the largest end of the spectrum the legendary Black Holes.
