Generals vs. Obama

"William G. “Jerry” Boykin, who was deputy undersecretary of defense under George W. Bush and is now the executive vice president of the Family Resource Council, is among the signatories of a new letter opposing the nuclear deal."

And we should care what some fascist piece of garbage thinks... because???

If anything, his opposition makes me trust the UN Security Council agreement more.

200 retired generals. That's a lot of mooches suckling at the government teat.

From the letter:

"the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action makes it likely that the war the Iranian regime has waged against us since 1979 will continue"

The Same Generals and Admirals who screwed up the IRaq War and the Afghan War?
They collapsed the government of Iraq within 2 weeks. Id say they are pretty fucking spectacular at their job. The only people who screwed up the iraq war were democrats and their politicians. Hmm, i see a pattern here.

The Iraqi government was barely functioning after 12 years of sanctions.

And you talk about that like it's a good thing.

Hello, the Iraqi governmetn falling was a BAD thing if we didn't have anything to replace it with, which of course we didn't.

Because the Generals who knew what they were doing told Bush he'd need 500,000 soldiers to secure the country. Bush not only went in with not enough, but then he disbanded the Iraqi Army, giving all the bad guys a nice big recruiting pool.

Did Bush prematurely pull out troops? We were smoking insurgents left and right under his watch, and we toppled the Saddam regime. Win win win!

If you think the end of 2011 was a premature pullout of US troops, then yes - Bush certainly did prematurely pull troops out.

Flipping the balance of power in Iraq from Sunni control to Iran-friendly Shiite control when there was no threat to U.S. National security coming from Iraq in March 2003, is not a win.

When the result of the dumb invasion is weighed, not only in cost of American injured and ended lives, and tax money spent, but in terms of the current Sunni terrorist violence in Iraq, there was no win in 2008. It was a win of sorts hiwever when Bush set the end date for all US troops to be withdrawn from his ill-begotten self-inflicted quagmire.

They collapsed the government of Iraq within 2 weeks. Id say they are pretty fucking spectacular at their job. The only people who screwed up the iraq war were democrats and their politicians. Hmm, i see a pattern here.

And now it's time for some reality.
The Bush administration did not listen to the original general's in charge who wanted considerably more troops to be involved in the initial invasion. The Bushies chose different general's who agreed with the Bushies on the smaller troops used in the invasion. True, the U.S. troops blew Saddam's rag-tag army away as the Iraqi army was using outdated equipment. But because the invasion was undermanned, the allies failed to secure the entire country. The result was that Iran was easily able to cross the Iran-Iraqi border to aid the Shiites in setting up local governments, thus attaining a foothold with Shiites, which they enjoy today as Iraq's top allies.
Also, because the U.S. did not have sufficient troop coverage renegade Sunni were able to raid unguarded munition dumps and take WMDs that the UN Inspectors had categorized and labelled. These WMDs were weapons leftover from the Gulf War 10 years earlier. The Sunni were able to use the remnants to make Roadsde Bombs and materials for car bombs, which ended up killing and maiming thousands of US troops.
Because the U.S. didn't have enough troops to gain total control of Iraq, insurgent groups were born and al Qaeda was able to get a foothold in Iraq. Because the U.S. didn't have adequate troop coverage, the Iraq War extended years 5 years after "Mission Accomplished". FINALLY, the infamous "Surge" was implemented and the U.S. FINALLY achieved total control after five years of needless US troop deaths and live_long physical and mental wounds that the U.S. will be paying for decades. And worse part, all the lives that were lost or ruined for lifetimes.
That is reality.

It is not our concern to replace it, but merely to explain to the Iraqis that with which they should not replace it.

Obama missed that part. Too afraid to make demands.

Now it's all fucked up.

In regards regarding Obama and the Generals.
Yeah, I think Obama should seriously follow active generals/admirals advice. However, as every issue involving the military typically is an expansive issue where .advice from multiple applical avenues is incorporated

no, the problem was that we invaded to start with and handed the place over to people who couldn't run the country.

Obama did make demands of Maliki. Maliki ignored the advice we gave him to include the Sunnis in his government.

THIS so called "deal" is a NIGHTMARE! Iranians monitoring the Iranian govt? Oh, sure, that's going to work (NOT!). We have become a nation of gullible rubes who will believe anything that even the most two-faced liars tell us.

Those tribes have been warring for a thousand years. That part is none of our business, and it is unlikely they will buddy-up with each other. Our only concern is creating advantages for the United States.

The advantage of the United States would be to stay the fuck out of the whole region.

Sadly, dumb asses like you dance to the tune of the Zionists and Oil Companies that we really, really, really need to be over there.

In a different world I might agree, but this is not that world.
