This modernism-nostalgia vignette was inspired by the patriotic film Taps and G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (Hasbro/Marvel).

After the great modernism war between the secret American paramilitary crusaders known as 'G.I. Joes' (led by Duke, secretly a Hollywood celebrity) and the super-terrorist organization known as 'Cobra' (which amounted to a cataclysmic 'smart-war'), the Joes and Cobras decided to retire together to Switzerland, spending their golden years drinking tea and smoking herbs and lounging in the spa realm of civilization. The Joe ninja-warrior Snake-Eyes married the Cobra female eco-terrorist Pythona (shocking!), and Duke married the Joe female war-vizier Scarlett. The Joe sailor Shipwreck and the Cobra ninja-assassin Storm-Shadow became best friends (shocking!).
Duke ensured that the National Security Agency (NSA) had all the procedures/protocols to continue peaceful commercial trade-negotiations with North Korea to avert all threats of biochemical and/or nuclear warfare in the future. Duke would still be available as a political 'consultant,' and Snake-Eyes promised to offer his 'tid-bits' of wisdom regarding field-combat training and Security Council emergency stratagem to bright-eyed West Point students seeking a life of politics and security-focused American warfare. For the most part, however, the Joes and Cobras were now friends and the rest of the world would take up the reins of the creative field leadership Duke exemplified.
The Joe female field-soldier Lady Jaye was working with the Cobra female war-vizier known as 'the Baroness' on special smartphone and HDTV commerce relations/pacts between North Korea and South Korea (but purely from a commercial/cultural base!). The two became known as the 'Samsung Dames,' surmounting even the high-profile endorsement intrigue generated by NBA legend Michael Jordan in the 1990s! The only threat to humanity now was a super-hacker (an MIT student-turned-terrorist) named Ethan Hunt who went by the code-name 'Video-Man.' Video-Man was determined to pervert all modern cybernetic communications grids and use them to his advantage, perhaps even goading the world into a new 'smart-war.'
